Can't log on to netbook. lost password

The most common way that most of us know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing a battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.

Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computerthe location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.

If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.

click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password

Save files you specify before shutting down KillCMOS basically "resets" your computer's CMOS settings to the factory defaults. Works with ALL CMOS. KiLLCMOS only changes checksums & values that makes the motherboard CMOS revert back to factory defaults.

Editors Note: We occasionally are informed that programs like KillCMOS are infected with a virus. Note that the operating system system requirement for this program is DOS. This means you need to be able to boot from a floppy or CD to DOS and execute the program. If you are running this program from Windows, then you did not read the directions. Any good anti-virus program will detect an attempt to access the bios and inform you it is a virus.

hope it helps

Ibought a computer with a Biostar Ta780G M2+ mother board and an AMd quad core chip I have to enter the bios to celect cd as priority after having to a new hard drive. Unfortunately I do not know the...

You can over ride the password by reseting the CMOS. To do this you need disconnect the computer from the mains and locate the CMOS reset pins (these are 3 small pins that have a plastic jumper over 2 of the pins, you should also see the word CMOS printed on the board around the pins). Once you have located this you need to slide the jumper off pins 1 and 2, then put the jumper on pins 2 and 3, wait around 10 seconds and then replace the jumper to its original position. Plug the computer back in, boot up and voila the password is removed!

I just asked about removein the startup password wat do mean with the jumper i am new with computers so could u explain a lil more

3ac542afbc4ff40fe47b72448dec8cca.png they look like this and can be any color... Most motherboards can have the BIOS password reset by moving the jumper to the correct pin position. Many motherboards have small print by the jumper to indicate the correct positions. For example you might see some pins on the mother board, with a jumper like the one above, with the words PSWD RST or something similar wrote on the mother board. If the jumper is on pins 1 and 2 move it over to pins 2 and 3, then reboot your computer. Then shut down the computer down and put the jumper back where it was and it should have reset the pass word.

I would advise you to compare my instructions to that of *********** boards manual which you can download form the mother boards manufacturers website.

Need Help

Hi,

You can do a CMOS/BIOS reset which will clear all the configurations including any password(s).

To reset the CMOS/BIOS. you need to open the case of your desktop PC and locate the jumper (JP1) for this purpose on the motherboard. It is located near the AGP Port, below the AMR1 connector. You need to move the jumper from the 2 pins where it is currently located and move it to the opposite pair (center pin will be common of course). After a few seconds place back to original position.

0fba743.jpg

On reboot, press "Del" key to enter CMOS/BIOS setup, select Standard/BIOS default, Save & Exit, reboot "Del" key again, set to your preferences.

Good luck and kind regards.

Replace back the jumper on pins 1 and 2. Hope this be of help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.
