4400 3Com Switch failed POST - 3Com Computers & Internet

not told what switch? nor what fails.
what DTC fails ? scanned/

i dont want to post 100 pages,. so what switch so I can post 1 page.

STICK or AUTO>???? (on stick its a clutch switch) same reasons.
the AUTO A/T this switch is called the PRNDL switch, prindle
you failed to ask a question or post a symptom.

where, who, when , what, how.??? questions.
i can think of 10 , just on this switch.

this is called park lockout.
all cars with A/T have that in USA.
the operators guide (lost?) has that answer.
the answer is there is a defeat switch well hidden on the shift
console. google finds the book OPerators guide fast.
the reasons this fails (just 1) is the brake switch fails.
the brakes, (USA) must be depressed, with foot, and
this releases the shifter,
when it fails. there is a by pass. RTM

This is usually caused by a bad async controller where dc voltage is not supplied to the ports. There is nothing you can fix to make it pass the check.

Not very likely to be the switch itself, the switch is a tactile momentary switch, more likely to have failed power supply due to bad caps just like the rest of failed monitors here, check to see if your adapter is putting out 12vdc, then we need to find out if it is getting 12vdc all the way to the main board and the inverter board:

Check the lamp door. There is an interlock there that will prevent power-up if the door is open at all It should be a small post on the door that enters the projector to compress a micro switch. If the post is broken or the door is not completely shut, the switch won't activate and there will be no power.

If that is not the case, please update this and we'll lok further.

This message indicates a hardware failure. Reboot and watch the POST and ASIC tests to see exactly what component is failing. If this device is under SmartNET contract with Cisco, contact them for replacement. If not, you will most likely need to purchase a replacement switch.

Unfortunately the show stack isn't showing any results other than it is either a hardware or software fault. I am guessing it is a fault with the hardware as the show version in your first post states "interface Ethernet-controller 4 failed POST POST error status : general error occured".

Ethernet-controller 4 is one if the gigabit ports (poss fibre port), so if you have anything attached to those, disconnect and reboot the switch and see what happens. If that doesn't work, you could try reinstalling the IOS, but at a guess I would say its a hardware fault.
