My burner will not burn cd's anymore. It still plays cd's fine as well as play and burn dvd's fine. I see no errors in hardware setup. It is a nec dvd +- RW ND 6650A that came with my Dell Inspiron E1705.

The CD Burner / Player / DVD Burner are all different heads. If the Dell Inspiron E1705 is an older model it is most likely you have reached the end of it's usable life for the CD burner part. If it is new the CD burner is most likely defective and hopefully warrantied. Otherwise these CD/DVD units can be replaced relatively inexpensively (as compared to buying a new laptop).

My Verbatim DVD +R DL disc burned on my NEC 2510A DVD-RW will not play in a desktop DVD player but will play the computer it was burned on. The computer is running Windows 7.

It;s possible that you may have left the disc open or re-writable. Check this first.
The settings will be located in the software you used to burn the disc. Easiest would be to start a new burn session and read the available settings throughout the window prompts. It may also be located in advanced settings, if you don't find it this way.

Can not burn CD. Error message from Roxi assistant

Not sure, but a generic test is try using a different blank CD, preferably a different brand. Also try same CD same brand on different burner.

NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A will only read and burn DVD's, not any type of cd

You could try updating the Driver.

The driver and instructions can be found here:

Have you contacted the manufacturers site and a)checked out their FAQ's and in the last resort Contacted their Support for help?

Burning problem

Try burning at a slower speed, like 16x or less. If your burner is a CAV-type, it will burn faster as it moves toward the outside of the disk and can be more prone to errors that way.

Also, have you tried playing the burned disk in another player, and did it show the same symptoms?
