I am trying to use memorex dvd-rw dvd in unit it keeps coming back with disc error please eject the disc playback feature may not be available on this disc. What can i do ?? Thanks Bob.

Try reloading the driver for dvd player burner. If this does not work try downloading the "read program" for the specified dvd drive.

what sort of burning software are you using it might be because you have not removed any copywrights

DVDBackup is intended to let you exercise your "fair use" rights under copyright law to either "time-shift" or "space-shift" DVD content which you may have purchased legitimately.
An example of time-shifting would be to temporarily store the data from a DVD you rented so as to watch it at a later time after you have returned the disc (and avoided late fees!). In order to receive the upgrade we need to know what firmware version your unit requires. First you need to access the DVD recorders service mode. Turn on the DVD Recorder and the Television, make sure the unit is on the DVD side. You may access the service mode by pressing the CMSKIP button on the remote control. Once you press CMSKIP you must press the numbers 1,2,3. You must do this quickly so it may take a couple tries. The model name will appear on the screen followed by Firmware Version. I need to know the serial number next to FE:

I think I figured it out...at least mine is working now anyways and it hasn't worked in 2 years! I got the remote out, pushed setup in dvd mode and initialize and now it works

It is possible that there is some dirt on the laser lens. With great care the laser lens can be cleaned.

If cleaning the laser lens does not fix it, there is the possibility that the laser unit and or its assembly, or the related electronics has a fault.

FYI - This might damage the unit, but if you really need to get that DVD out then you can try this at your own risk!

Try unpluging the unit, then plug it back in and press the power button and a split second later press the eject button. This all needs to be done quickly otherwise the unit will try to load the disc.

Or

You can try letting the unit load the DVD. When the unit says "Please eject disc. Playback feature may not be avalible on this disc," press the eject button.
