Try reinstalling the software if a reset does not do the trick.
To reset unit, pull the plug when it is turned on. Then push and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, then replug back the unit and push the power button.
The output bin is where the paper comes out and stacks up after being printed. It is possible the sensor lever is stuck, or there is physically too much paper in the bin.
The sensor that monitors the output bin is broke, jammed or missing. At the top of the printer where the paper exits and lays flat. There should be a plastic rod that goes from one side to the other. It has rollers on it to pull the paper out. There should also be a black plastic flag that goes up and down as paper comes out of the printer. Use a flash light if you have to. Move the flag with your finger up and down. It should almost float. If it is stuck in the up position it causes the printer to think that the output bin is filled up with paper. If it is stuck push it down gently. Make sure that it lifts and that gravity pushes it down.
Check out the arm that rides on the paper as it comes out. It may be stuck so that the sensor is covered. Or it may be that the sensor has some dust on it, so that it reports bin full. Check the arm and also as a precaution use some canned air and blow out the area where the sensor is located. Be careful with the air and don't let it move anything out of place.
If you have removed the paper from the output bin at the top of the printer and the message won't go away, either the sensor is bad or the actuator is stuck in the up position.
Look at the top of the printer at the rear right of the fuser. There should be what looks like a plastic rod(usually black in color) with plastic "flags". It should be free, moving up and down with your finger. It is used to guide the paper into the bin. What usually happens is the rod gets jammed in the up position telling the printer that the output bin is full. If your printer has this problem, just push the flags down to free it. This should fix your problem. Sorry but I don't have a 5550 in front of me, so this is from memory. Good Luck
check the flag that hangs down as the paper is exiting printer.... sometimes the flag gets stuck in the up position..(causing the printer to think there's a big stack of paper needed to be taken off the machine
The output Bin message comes from the sensor that reads when there are to many pages printed and they are sitting on the top BIN. Check the BIN sensor or arm and make sure that it is reading. Most of the time the sensor has a broken arm the the sensor reads to let it know when the BIN is full. You might want make sure that you reconnected the sensor and you have take the top cover off to replace the fuser. Bruce
