I don't know how to fix the door exactly but I do know of a site that sells all types of designs to recover your dishwasher and fridge. They even have stainless steel.

The door springs are attached to the bottom of each side of the door. You have to pull the dishwasher out far enough to see the area or all the way out if you have sides on yours. It hooks on the door and another hook on the washer frame.

The dishwasher door spring has snapped, the door is heavy, can I fix it myself?

Yes, you can repair the unit yourself. It will require removing the dishwasher out of the cabinetry to get to the spring cable. The spring is not the problem but the connector between the door hinge and the spring is broken.
The part you need is 4933DD3001B. You will need 2 of them.
Hope this helps.

Adjust door tension on jdb-5 jenn air dishwasher, door too heavy

There are springs on both sides of the door, likely one has snapped. You can get at the spring without removing the machine, sometimes, by pulling the bottom panels...

Dishwasher door drops hard when opened.

Sounds like one of the doors springs is broken or has come detached from the dishwasher housing frame. If you have a plain dishwasher door, ie one that does not have a wood panel matching your cabinets, and the spring(s) are broken, new springs cost about $20. If you have wood panel on the dishwasher door, then you may need heavy duty replacement spring at about $22.

Broken door spring?

Either a spring or a door cable. On newer Kitchenaids and Whirlpools, it is usually a "cable" made of rope and plastic that breaks, not the spring itself. Get me the complete model number and I will look it up for you...

Kitchaide Dishwash Door

There is normally 2 heavy springs & cables that control the "falling" of the door located in the bottom of the machine or it the door itself. Sounds like one (or both) have snapped.
