    So Brad Brown, if this is what is broken and you take it to a repair shop, what would you expect to pay? I am trying to decide if it is worth it if the TV is 6 years old and we could go get a new one for $350.

Change input device to some other like a DVD player. Look for loose contacts in RC jack, cable, sockets. Look for any jammed buttons on TV or on remote.

It is more likely to bad dying power supply due to bad DC filter caps, that will be the first place to look.
You can learn and see about TV and bad caps in my albums, it is very common problem after two years of plugging into the wall since it is alway running 24/7 even if the TV is not ON!

No signals found when searching for channels at setup

you need to press the channel up button 3 times if yo get message as please connect av sources. then do the manual channel search for 2 times. it should solve the problem.

It is not cost prohibitive to repair time for a new TV I am afraid I can not give you an exact quote but a 32' Philips screen is 1100 dollars. Thats 200 more than I paid for the TV
