Headlights and Blinkers Go Out Intermittently

My headlights and blinkers have been going out most of the time, with the exception of when the key is turned part-way on, but engine isn't actually on. Every now and then it'll work when engine is on, but not most times.

This started after I took the key out, but had some trouble getting it out...the lock cylinder didn't seem to turn smoothly and I had to turn it extra to get the key to release. That same time, the radio kept playing even though key was out (not normal for my car).

I checked all associated fuses I could think of. All OK. And it does work sometimes. Started same day transmission started making noise when putting it in park. (200,000 miles on it)

You will need to most likely replace the lock cylinder and the ignition switch, sounds like a worn out parts issue. This should cure your problems with the lights and any other strange electrical problems.

SOURCE: 1990 Corolla blinkers working intermittently only

If the flasher ("blinker can") was bad, It would be rare that it would work intermittantly. We rarely change the fashers, they are pretty reliable. My suggestion to you is to check your turn signal switch. If the signals are not flashing, cycle the switch back to center & left/right; hold it in the "on position".... Do the lights the start to work? if so, replace the turn signal switch.

most likely cause will be your indicater stalk (control) needs replacing, most likely because of worn contacts.

The harness that holds the bulb is bad. I had to replace both in my car after dealing with changing bulbs over and over to get it to work. My did this exact same thing.

SOURCE: Blinkers don't work: When I use my blinkers to

The right blinker issue sounds like you have one bulb out either front or rear check them both. The left blinker issue sounds like either bulbs(both out) or fuse, or worst case blinker switch has gone bad on left turn only so not picking up the signal.

My headlights go off as soon as I put my car in drive or reverse. If I turn on a blinker, they all go off. What the heck can I do to have headlights and tail lights in my car?

This will need to be diagnosed by a hands on mechanic rather than over the internet, I would suggest the dealership as they will have better access to information from the manufacturer than other mechanics.

Have a 2007 ford f150 blinkers and 4 ways work fine untill headlights turned on then blinkers stay light but not blinking

Could be the turn singal relay not getting the correct power when lights engaged. Take out bulb from headlight and then turn on headlights. Now no power to the headlights. Try to turn on blinkers now. If they blink replace signal relay, if they still are solid it may be your flasher. Just a guess without looking. Thanks.

Blinkers dont work

You may need to replace the blinker controller, a small device that manages the timing and sequential on/off to the bulbs.

2004 monte carlo ss supercharged. The headlights have gone off a couple times for no apparent reason, then I lost blinkers. Very sporadic. I had the blinker assembly changed, but blinkers still go out...

try turning hazards on off n see that makes a difference if so u need new hazard because ur turnsignals are routed through that switch... if not most likely the turn signal stock is bad if playin with hazard switch doesnt change anything

The headlights on my 98 escort go out when my blinkers go on, and then they are difficult to get back on. how do I fix this?

most likely the multi-function switch... you know, the lever that turns on headlights, works blinkers, and high and low beams, needs replaced.

2003 dodge stratus. I have no blinkers or flashers working at all. I have power at the fuse for blinkers. Every thing else on the turn signal switch works (headlights, wipers ect.) Just no blinkers Where...

I have a 2003 Dodge Stratus 4 door I replace my multi-function switch and I still have no functions of any blinkers at all I'm kind of thinking it might be a fuse I checked all my fuses in my fuse box relays all the fuses are good except for the fuse that might be sitting on top of the blinker I don't know what it's for it green

Fast Blinker

Usually a fast turn signal means that there is a light out. You should probably check all of your lights, including back-up lights, and turn signals. If there is one out then replacing the burnt out bulb should fix the problem.
