Trinitron kv-32FS100 Black screen periodically, with sound, light blinks 5 times

The video output IC on the board on back of CRT is bad or there isn't 200VDC supply for it.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Sony Wega Triniton KV-32FS100 TV

For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.

I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.

The set is in protective shutdown because a problem was detected. The 5 blink code indicates that the problem circuit. In this case it is the blanking circuit. Were there any indications of problems prior to the storm? If not, I'll need to lok up this one for the specifics. Do you intend to repair this yourself?

No picture. Standby light blinks 5 times. Tried unplugging and restarting. Same problem

5 times blinks is due to flyback transformer faulty or the short circuit in C board section.

If the screen displays VIDEO 1 then the set is in video 1 mode, looking for a signal on the video 1 input jacks. Press the TV/VIDEO button on the remote (or the set itself if it has it) and cycle around to the input you are actually using.

If the power supply IC (MX0842) shorts out, it blows the Sony 0.1 ohm fuse resistor. The set will click but have no sound or picture and the LED will blink 5 times. The power supply should be repaired by someone with experience with Sony TV's.
