If there is no sound card. Probably it was disabled the sound and maybe there is no really sound card was installed. To make it short buy a PCI sound card, turn off your computer and install the card to PCI slot and turn on your computer and your computer will detect that there is a found new hardware. Ignore it and insert the cd installer and install the driver of your sound card. If it's ask you to restart just restart your computer to update its system. In case that there is a built in sound on your computer check your motherboard model and search for the driver from their official website and download and install, if you download the correct driver it will automatically installed your sound and your sound will be working. Have a nice day!

Realtek audio sound distorted when playing dvd

The dvd drive has a cable that goes to your sound card. The sound card plays the audio that comes out of the DVD drive. I would try a CD in the drive, alternately try another drive (if using a desktop computer), or try another sound card if you have one. Try another DVD player application (software), it could be a bad codec used for that player.

The tv works but the dvds wont play. The symbol showing the disk is trying to read appears and stays on screen but nothing ever happens. When I try to eject the disc it won't. I have to turn it off and on...

my dvd player doesn't play all types of discs, especially homemade like ones ripped from a home computer. However, i do not play many dvds, yet i have replaced the players many times. I dont think that most dvd players are built to last. Sounds like you have 1 built-in (to tv). The players are cheap now-- your better off saving the headache and replacing it- The last one i bought was $30.00 on sale-get a cheap 1 cause i think they all have a short lifespan.

Sound card wont play root media files

Hi Hughdog
well, Biostar mobos are know for a lot issues, but depending too, on the OS, windows XP I presume, go on safe mode, and uninstall all audio drivers, and disable on the BIOS audio. then start the PC, and install the audio card. or if is a internal audio reenable again, redetec the drivers, and install them according to the CD and drivers. you should see the play device now and play music correctly.
good luck
