DDAC24, Many times VIRUS or Malware DISABLE control functions, devices AND the software that directs them. *** Curious to know if your EARPHONE jack works? PLEASE SAVE/BACKUP everything you can EXCEPT your programs! If you backup a INFECTED program/file you MAY find yourself fighting the SAME problem over and over again! BE SURE you have access to your SPECIFIC drivers (ALWAYS a good practice)... ESPECIALLY your network drivers! Get them from ACER and put them all on one CD. Go online and download "MALWAREBYTES" FREE and CLEAN your system now... This MAY correct your problem(s). *See the link below... Now reinstall your Sound Card Drivers... I know you can't access them now, but try to OVERWRITE them with a .EXE file (if one is included with your Sound Card Software). IF you've been using your ACER for years it may be time to REFRESH everything... here is the method but be SURE you have those DRIVERS first! * FORMAT your hard drive (after you have backed up) and * Reinstall your Operating System (and Drivers that did not auto-install). * Do not attempt this WITHOUT a full set of CLEAN drivers for your SPECIFIC computer AND a copy of the Operating System your System was shipped with. Note: I would NOT recommend installing a NEWER Operating System because MANY times, NEW Drivers are never written for newer OS so some items (sound/net/displays) may never work 100% again! example: Your System shipped with Windows XP. You tried to install Windows 8 / 10 or 15. NOT a good idea... get your System FULLY functional first. Anthony Free Anti Malware Malware Removal

hi Dzhamal23. you may need to setup the sound for your speakers. First Check if your headphones work on rear audio panel or not. If they work there then you need to set your Realtek HD Audio to recognise your headphones. Do this: Open Realtek HD Audio Manager from control panel or from notification area icon(a brown coloured speaker). On the dialog box just below the close button there is written 'Device Advanced Settings' (no need to change the settings) and below this there is a Folder icon which shows tooltip text Connector Settings when you hover your mouse over it. Click open the Dialog Connector Settings. Tick the checkbox against Disable front panel jack detection and click OK. i also found this on the internet. So I have contacted Acer and I isolated the issue they dont support the issue but I have found through research that the motherboard has a problem relating to the headphone jack I have seen then listed for sale on Ebay with broken audio jacks I used a usb headphone set and received clear sound and after removing the third party software the speakers are sounding good too... if you have a nice set of mm headphones then you can buy an adapter that converts usb to mm so you can use them this way and that will prevent having to replace the faulty motherboard/audio jack or go to this link and it will give you step by step on what to try out. Simple answer, no. If the problem is as it seems, that you do not have DirectX installed, you should just need to install it! If the game came on a disc, DirectX should be on the disc. Otherwise, you can download DirectX 9 from:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35 Hope that helps, get back to me if it doesn't.

Unfortunately, I would either have to be in the chat mode or on the telephone with you to fully analyze your problem and provide a coherent answer. But don't despair because there is a little FREE program that may solve your problem.

It happens periodically that our computer shuts down, restarts, hibernates or some other weird thing when we really don't want it to. I'm going to pass on to you a FREE and hard to believe program from Microsoft! I have no idea why this little program hasn't been advertised but then I don't own their stock.

Just click on the following link and your problem should be solved: Download Microsoft's Fixit

I don't know your skill level so my suggestion is that you utilize the automatic function of Fixit.

Be a hero and fix your friends' computers; just don't tell them how you did it! That will be our little secret.

All the best,

Had to re-load realtek RTL8185 Lan Configeration

it is possible that the audio driver to still be in the system ..but just mixed up with the local area connection driver...(network card ..from what you have said ..) The way to do it ..is insert the cd with the motherboard drivers if you have it ..and in there you will find the sound driver ..and all you have to do is run it ..and restart when you finish ..and the sound will be back ...If the card is not on board..you need the driver from the sound card ..and you either download it if you know the card's name ..or have the disk and install it from it ...
The best way is to identify the exact driver..or if you know you have the original configuration and you know the exact name of your system (motherboard) ..just get to the support site of acer..and download the driver for the sound after you select the model and the operation system ..
here is the support site ..but cause you didn't specified the exact sound card model or at least the computer's model name ..I can not select it for you..
If you know all these info ..just write me here in a comment and I will look for the driver..(specify the operation system please)
if you think that you never uninstalled the driver ..try to install it auto by getting into the device manager (right click on my computer ..and hardware ...device manager ..In here locate the sound card if it is in yellow..and click right and select update driver ...follow instructions and install it if the driver is still in the system ..
If you have the driver for the sound stored in computer ..just click to run it ..and continue until restart ..
or ..consult this site for it ..

Your computer has all the regular expansion slots so it should be compatible with any sound card you wish to buy (it has PCI and PCI-e slots). I can suggest a suitable one for you if you can tell me the sort of audio-related tasks you use your computer for.
I am assuming you know how to install a sound card. If you don't, it really is not very difficult, and the card should come with instructions on how to do it.
