Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Intermittent heating on my Whirlpool gas dryer (lgr6611lq0). I have the back off and can see the burner come on for a bit and then go off. I have good airflow out of the dryer vent (at the dryer itself)....

ok have u checked the hi and low relays for continuity these are both found aroundthat area as well and make sure you unplug yr machine before performing this test you also have an ignitor inside the unit which should be drawing 3.3 amps if it is lower then you should replace the ignitor hope this helps

Not heating up Gas Dryer

Modern gas dryers do not have a pilot light. They have an electronic ignitor (glow or spark). A glow ignitor turns on several seconds before the gas turns on and should get orange hot. A spark ignitor should make a clicking or buzzing noise.

Most likely the ignitor is bad but you can check it fairly easily to make certain. The best instructions I have found are at

http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/dryer/gdryer/check/ignitor.php

If it is the ignitor it can be replaced with a few hand tools. Remove the bad ignitor. Write down the make, model, and serial # of your dryer. Call your local appliance parts store to see if they have one it stock before driving over there.

Have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer - model # lgr7646a spins but no heat

Thre is no pilot light. This dryer uses an ignitor (glow bar or coil).
Open the lower front "door" (small access door) and turn on dryer.
If the ignitor does not glow (bright orange), then the ignitor needs to be replaced ($60).
If it does glow, then the gas valve needs replacement ($60).
If it isd the valve, the internal spring is stuck. Do not try to repair it, you must replace it.

Whirlpool dryer model LGR6611LQ0 will not heat up

check for tripped breaker and proper voltage, next check to see if turns on if your getting air to the outside vent if ok the you need to open the unit up (unplug it FIRST) your be looking for the thermal fuse and or the cutoffs these will be attached to the blower housing assy ohm them out and also if electrical one check the heating element as well most cases this will solve your problems

I have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGV6848AWO.

the ignitor bar that lights the gas might not be coming on, the coils that open the gas valve in the dryer might not be opening the valve, or the flame sensor might be bad which would not allow power to the ignitor. these are the most common problems with whirlpool gas dryers
