Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the dishwasher fills then it means that the control and the water inlet valve are fine, hum sound itself indicates that the motor is bad and needs replacement. If you hear a hum sound from the bottom of the unit then it is the motor that is bad and if the hum comes from the control then it is the timer that is bad and needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Dishwasher fills with water. then hums but dosen't clean

Sounds like water-level sensor is ok as it stops filling then 'hums'. I'd (carefully) check the connections to the connections between the level-sensor and the wash motor start relay. Could be motor is bad or something is causing it to become 'jammed'. Before you begin opening the appliance, I'd attempt to vacuum out the water or try putting the control in the last position to cause it to try to pump out the water.

A few days ago our sink/garbage disposal was plugged up - plunged it and opened drain BUT dishwasher started humming and wouldn't fill up with water. Bosch Model SHU43C06UC Tried pushing on/off...

Check the drain pump it is located in the front of you unit .Disconnect power or flip breaker .Remove the front kick plate then there is a metal plate above that is held on with 4 screws remove that and reach in and press lever on pump and turn counter clockwise it will come right out .Then check for items in the pump area could be glass. Hope it is helpfull

The dishwasher does not work at all. It just makes a slight hum.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

It sounds like you may have a faulty fill valve or a stuck motor impeller. I guess the first obvious question is, Does the unit fill with water ? If no and it hums, faulty fill valve or water supply is off.

If it does fill with water does the humming begin after it has filled, and if so has the unit recently been idle for a period of time...say a couple of weeks or so ? If yes, the wash impeller has become stuck and there is a simply resolution for Bosch dishwashers, it's a common occurrence.

These are relevant questions and can point directly to the problem if you want to reply I can help you move forward.

Let me know what you find and I'll try to assist you in any manner I can going forward.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Will fill bottom then hums

Check to see if something is caught in pump or in bottom of dishwasher stopping the arm.

Dishwasher starts to fill then just hums

Sounds like a motor problem. Behind the chopper is an access to the impeller, try turning the impeller or the chopper blade and see if the motor will rotate. If it doesn't, then something is stuck preventing the motor from running.

Dishwasher keeps stoping

Favorite for bosch is the water inlet modual which monitors the water flow in could be faulty, If incorrect pulses take place the motor wont proceed. Otherwise listen for a hum after water stops filling. If there is a hum, the main wash pump is jambed and has to be sorted out.
