Most computer testing facilities will test your current power supply for free. A replacement is very inexpensive to replace. Bestbuy, MicroCenter, small computer shops and buy replacement from Amazon.com, newegg.com.. Just make sure you have the correct information for your replacement. The model number on the power supply would be your best bet in most cases. Good luck and have a great day. I buy power supplies as low as $15 dollars Generic

Emachine won't start .power is on, fan is on, doesn't boot up

I love this one. I've actually done this many times before and have been successful.

1. Turn the computer off and unplug the power cord from the back of the tower.

2. Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds while the computer2_bing.gif is unplugged (this drains the remaining power from the capacitors on the motherboard2_bing.gif).

3. Plug the computer back in and turn it on.

If that does not work, follow steps 1 and 2 again, but this time:

3. Open the computer while it is unplugged and unplug the power supply from the motherboard then hold down the power button again for 3 seconds. (You may also want to take the RAM out and put in back in)

4. Plug everything back in and turn the computer on.

My power supply is blinking green light and my PC has no power

plug your pc directly to your wall outlet and see if it turns on. If it works, then the problem is your power supply. If power supply has a reset button, press it and try again. If pc does not turn on when plugged to wall outlet, then power supply for pc may be out.

Power supply or motherboard problem?

Hi talissap,

The blinking light is telling you something about the PSU. First check any AC mains voltage select switches for proper setting. US should be 115. Second if you have a multimeter, you could test the PSU for voltage. Disconnect all power to all components. remove all components from the board including cpu, memory . Leave the PSU only plugged into the board. Press power. If the fan turns on then it's not the power supply. The brand power supply isn't the best, I've seen where you need to wait for 5-20 minutes for the blinking to stop, at which time it will fire up. Now, if it doesn't power up, then it's most likely the PSU.

Good Luck,

Mark

EMachine T6420 will only turn on to start the fans and then immediately turns back off - has Bestec ATX-300-12E power supply - do you think that's the problem

These computers have had problems with the mother board. I had one the same problem, and I did research on the INternet. Best advice.... find a replacement board which will fit this box. Then you will have to re-install the operating system with the cdrom. You may be able to repair the system.
More than likely the power supply is not the problem, but the board is suspect more than anything.

ATX Bestec 1956F Power Supply Failure

sounds like your power supplie has not been switched on by *********** board.the fan will not turn on until power supplie is turned on by mb.as far as what is wrong there are several things i can think of.i would try resetting bios. It sounds like your power supplie is working and your motherboard could have a short.but i have no way to be sure without testing. I can however tell you how to perform a test on your power supplie.unplug the 20 or 24 pin connector from your mb. look for a green wire, and then locate the grey one.short these two together(you can use a paper clip or something).if it dosnt power up. your power supplie is bad.also do not short any other wires, and only touch the grey and green for a few seconds as this is not how it was intended to be powered on.
