Why does my olympus camera say write project and won't let me take pics?

Have you tried formatting the memory card?

1. Put the SD card into the computers cardreader.
2. Connect the camera through USB with the computer .
3. Copy the pictures.

If you have trouble with the SD card:
1. Copy all the pictures to the computer.
2. Format the sd card in the camera.
3. Copy the pictures back onto the sd card.

If you were able to take one shot before the camera packed up it can be that the battery does not have charge on it and so after the first shot it has drained the battery. So check out the charge on it or repeat charging to test once again.
Other wise it can be that the camera control unit is faulty. Try and reset by removing battery for a while and trying once again.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. it is ur luck if camera still works in indoor pics then only take indoor pics but the pics are not crisp and clear they need to be there will be dis colored and scratchy but u can try see which are better i think pics without flash with adequate light will be better one's

its the card not the camera.
i think you fingers have come into contact with the gold bits on the xd card.
try wipping the card and putting it in several times,if all fails buy your self an olympus 1gb xd card H TYPE.
