SOURCE: WRT54G - Firmware Version: v7.00.1

This individual is not understanding what you are asking...because he has already answered your question.

He is using a WRT54G v7 router. The firmware version has been upgraded from v7.00.1 to v7.00.4.

GUEST: The version of the firmware is probably not your issue. Find out what TCP/UDP ports the game uses to connect and open those ports in the router. This is the only way to start when it comes to troubleshooting online games.

Also check for possible incompatibilities that your other network equipment may have with that particular router. It is a possibility, believe it or not. I've had a Linksys router that was incompatible with my cable modem in the past. (I was lucky that a simple firmware upgrade fixed that issue.)

Note: Linksys tech support isn't really all that great. Especially when it comes to getting specific software to work with their router. (i.e. They really DON'T know how to help you with specific software unless it's widely-used. We're talking about software like World of Warcraft. Myself have never heard of Gunz Online International.)

If you are needing further help, please give us a detailed, IN-ORDER description of your network equipment and how it is set up from point A to point B. What kind of internet connection are you using? What kind of device does your ISP give you for your internet, etc? Those kinds of things.

I'll check back later.

SOURCE: Frimware Upgrade

Apparently not, but I'm guessing you already knew that.

Look carefully at the label and the firmware installed in your router. The 1.02.5 is listed for 5 and 6 only and version 8 is for 8 only. There is no 7 listed, so it was either a special run or there is just no firmware upgrade for it yet. It must have been perfect :-)

Hello,

Just had same problems with my brand new Xperia Mini Pro and old WRT54G ver 5. Every time I connected with WiFi the router restarted (once it returned to factory settings). I updated the router firmware to latest version (1.00.6 to 1.02.8) and after this it works fine.

Hello, so i have Insight cable, Lynksys router, and it sees like the wireless connection is going down like an a three or four days or sometimes it happens like ever second day, so i gotta unplug it from...

I suggest that you check the Cisco/Linksys web site for a firmware update for your router.
Please be aware that there are many different versions of the WRT54G and you will want to choose the correct version from the router support web site.
From the above web site, click on the "Downloads" tab.
From the Downloads tab, click the "Where's my model number" link to figure out the hardware version of your router. Once you have figured out the hardware version, select it from the "Select Hardware Version" drop-down.
This will display links to firmware update files for your router.
Consult the User Guide (also on the download page) for specifics on how to update safely the firmware in your router.

Random reboots necessary.. possibly caused by surge or V spike

You have WRT54G router. check the version number of the router. If it is 5,6 or 8 then upgrade the firmware of the router. You will find the version number on the Flip side of the router. when you turn it upside down, you will see the model number and just after the model number , you will see the version number. Once you upgrade the firmware of the router, reset the router and reconfigure the router .

Playstation 3 disconnecting from wireless gaming

Linksys loves to ship their routers with out-dated firmware. If you haven't updated the firmware of your router, that would be the first thing I'd do. From what I've read about routers and PS3, a lot of routers had trouble when they came out but had firmware updates to resolve the problem.

You'll need to go to the below link and select your version to get firmware downloads specific to your Model router and version number. The version number is listed on the bottom of your router next to the model.

http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT54GS/download

Be sure to read up on how to update the firmware and be sure you only update the firmware from a computer connected via WIRED connection to the router. Doing it wirelessly will cause disconnection from the router mid update and will cause your router to become a paper-weight!

The above link is a good website to find out a lot of information about Linksys routers and how to secure/update/configure them.

Linksys wireless-g wrt54g

Hi,

Chances are yes depending on the version that you have. This model has been in production for some time and variations has necessitated different Versions (mostly on the firmware).

The LinkSys page for various downloads (including latest firmware) is here. Again, you need to specify what version is your WRT54G.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Getting The WRE54G To Connect With The WRT54G

The WRT54G, WRT54GS, and WAP54G all must have the latest firmware versions available installed in order to connect with the WRE54G Wireless-G Range Expander. Here are the minimum firmware version requirements that you must meet: * WRT54G (all versions): at least firmware version 2.02.2 * WRT54GS: at least firmware version 2.07.1 * WAP54G (all versions) : at least firmware version 2.07 To Identify your WAP54G Version Number: To find out which version of the WAP54G you currently have, flip your Access Point over to look at its underside. Near the serial number label, near the Linksys© logo, you will see your model number and a possible version. Labels for the WAP54G version will look like one of the following: * WAP54G (no version means Version 1) * WAP54G ver. 1.1 * WAP54G v. 2 For WAP54G Version 1 and Version 1.1 Users ONLY: (if you have a WAP54G Version 2, you may proceed with the 2.07 or later firmware upgrade) NOTE: Before upgrading the WAP54G Version 1 and Version 1.1 models to firmware version 2.07 or later, make sure your Access Point?s current firmware is version 1.09.1 beforehand. The version 1.09.1 code performs an important OS upgrade for these versions of the Access Point -- it must be loaded before using later firmware.
