SOURCE: My unit is not producing

If the instructions didn't mention how to clean the unit of scale and mineral deposits, that's more than likely the problem.

If that's the case, here's what you need to do: Empty the tank of any more that's still in it and mix a 50/50 solution of White Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water. Fill the tank with the solution and allow it to set 8 hours or over night. Then tunr the unit on and place your hand in front of the mist nozzle, to see if it's producing mist. If it is, let it run for at least 45 minutes and turn the unit OFF. Empty the remaining solution and refill the tank with Bottled Distilled Water. Run the unit until the tank is 1/2 empty and refill with more of the Bottled Distilled Water. Now, you're set to go. In the future, I'd recommend that you always use Bottled Distilled Water rather than tap water. As it's mineral and scale free.

Hope this helps to solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I turn the humidifier on l or ll. The light is grean but it is not releasing steam or anything. I don't hear a noise and the water level stays the same.

The humidifier may be clogged with a calcium scale build up. Especially, if you use well water or your municipal water supply has a high chemical content.

To solve this problem do the following. Mix a 50/50 solution of White Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water (enough to fill the tank). Empty any water that is currently in the tank and fill it with the 50/50 solution. Allow at least one hour, before turning the unit ON. After turning it ON place you hand in front of the mist nozzle to see if any mist is being generated. If it's generating mist, allow it to run until the tank is 3/4's empty. Then turn the unit OFF, unplug it and empty the remaining solution. Refill with Bottled Distilled Water and run until the tank is empty.

If the unit did not produce mist after one hour of soaking, allow it to set over night and then follow the procedure above. Generally, an overnight soaking will do the trick. In the future, I recommend using Bottle Distilled Water rather than your tap water.

Hope this helps you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I bought the humidifier and my daughter switched the knob to reset now the know will not move off reset. How do i fix this?

Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 10 minutes. Plug the unit back in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and if the unit reset itself like it should have, it should function properly.

Hope this helped to solve the problem. Please let me know. And Happy upcoming Mother's Day!

I have an HM 495, the past 4 days it has been working fine. Now there is no mist coming out and it seems to be spilling water out of the back of the base. What is the problem? I have not been using warm or...

When this happened to me, I took the tank into the bathroom to look at the bottom and then I tried to turn the knob and it wasn't all the way tight. After I tightened it, I put it back on the base and the mist started right away.

Humidifier not working

Ensure there is water in the tank.
  • This may be caused by mineral deposits in the water channels. Try the following: Clean the water tank, base and vapor nozzel with a damp cloth to remove any build up in the water channel.
  • When was the last time the cartridge was changed. (If it’s been over 3 months, this could be the reason why the unit is not working properly.)
  • Unscrew the demineralization cartridge and run the unit, if it starts to mist then you need a new cartridge. (insert cartridge link here)
  • The screw cap for the water tank, onto which one first screws in the demineralization cartridge, has a small rubber gasket. make sure that gasket is not too far down against the outer screw cap. If it is the spring loaded button would not work properly to let the water descend into the base tank .
The solution: push up on that small rubber gasket so that it is as far up and away from the screw cap as it can be without falling off, and voila! you get mist!!
  • If you have changed the filter recently then take out the cartridge and run the unit without the cartridge for about 15 to 20 minutes.

HM5081TG Reset Light won't turn off

Reset the unit once it is refilled by pushing the power button and holding it down for 5 seconds before releasing. This should reset your unit to factory settings.
