Holmes Products HM495-UC Humidifier Questions & Answers
Samson sound system in a church has a continuous hum. Speakers are not routed around fluorescent lights or power lines.
You have a short. This is either from a bad cable or a faulty price of gear.
to find the problem do you want to isolate pieces of the system. Turn on just your speakers (if they're powered) or amps (if the speakers are not powered). With the mixer off, if you were getting a pause the short exists after the mixer. No buzz? Great! Turn the amps or speakers off to prevent popping. Turn on the mixer, and then turn on the speakers or amps. If you have a bus now with all channels on the mixer down it is likely your mixer. If there is no buzz, Bring the channels up one at a time. Once you find the buzz, turn the channel back down and plug unknown working microphone and cable into its channel. If the Mike buzzes when you bring the channel up it's the channel on the mixer. If it does not then the issue exists before the mixer. This is most likely and also the least expensive to resolve. Check the snake if you have one and all cables in line in a similar fashion. Most likely a snake channel has failed, you have a bad cable plugged in the snake Or you have a bad DI box or mic plugged in.

You either have a locked pump, impeller or stripped impeller on the pump shaft. Remove the jet pump assy and repair the pump and or impeller. You can also replace the pump assy.
I have an HM 495,
When this happened to me, I took the tank into the bathroom to look at the bottom and then I tried to turn the knob and it wasn't all the way tight. After I tightened it, I put it back on the base and the mist started right away.
Just purchased a Holmes Hm495
I
had the same problem with my Holmes HM5601 humidifer unit - right out
of the box. I almost returned the unit to the store, but was able to
figure-out the problem. Not enough water had been filling the heating
section (where that black knob-like protrusion is) and the lack of
enough water had caused the unit to shut-off soon after plugging it in.
The problem is in valve at the bottom of the water tank! The valve is a
factory defect. It needs to open more when you sit the water tank
onto the base so water fills the reservoir. I had solved the problem by
going to the hardware
store and purchasing some small, rubber pads or feet. These rubber
pads are the type used to place under things where you want to protect a
table-top from being scratched or you want the item not to slide too
easily on a table-top. These rubber feet or pads have an adhesive on
the bottom of them. Find the size that matches the diameter of the
valve stem on the bottom of the water tank. Once installed, the valve
should open and close with your finger without the rubber pad
interferring with the operation of the valve. The pad, if installed
properly, makes contact with the water reservoir base when you placed
the water tank down onto that base. The valve open a bit more allowing
water to pass-thru and fill the water reservoir. Water fills the
heating section as needed and the unit runs perfectly after! The round
rubber pad I had used was about an 1/8 inch thick and 1/2 inch in
diameter.
Why does my humidifier holmes 1700 blows air but no water or mist?
If the water has been sitting in the reservoir for days without use, it may develop a film on the ultrasonic element which inhibits the creation of the mist to come out the top of your humidifier. I would lift off the tank and empty the reservoir. Then VERY GENTLY with a piece of paper towel, wipe the ultrasonic element (looks like a disk the size of a quarter at the bottom of the reservoir) to clean off any film. Then replace the tank and let the reservoir fill up the tank and try it again.
Good luck
