The N/D on the back is for the toe touch lever there and it stands for Neutral / Drive. When unit is on place the lever (push down) in the D position and it is a clutch assist to make it push easier. When unit is off, place in the N position to release the clutch and roll it around. Usually the plugs occur where the bag attaches the unit, disconnect bag and check there. Also insure the roller brush is working.

Rainbow vacuum won't pick up

Attach hose with out power head to the rear of unit and turn unit on. This is a pretty effective way of eliminating anything that may be in hose. Also check belt on power head. P.S don't forget to put rear cover back on rainbow,

Dyson Animal 17 - brush stopped turning

The belt will stop itself from spinning if you accidentally picked up a shoestring or vacuumed the edged of a carpet and the carpet got caught. To have the brush spinning again, simply step on the front of the machine, pull back the handle, turn the machine on with the red power button and press the gray button next to the red button - that's the ON/OFF button for the brushbar. If it doesn't spin, press and hold the button down for 10 seconds. If it still doesn't work, call the Dyson helpline, they'll have you open up the cleaner and inspect the belt and brushbar motor and if all else fails, they'll refer you to a local repair dealer in your area to fix it.

My electrolux canister vacuum roller does not spin even though it has power.

When the vacuum is one and the switch for on for the carpet position. There is a small button the the floor attachment which we call the power head. It will b in the place of where the head becomes L shaped its either black or red. Push the button while the machine is on. If it does not work call ur electrolux dealer and have them pick it up. Or call me I'm a dealer and can have UPS pick it up no charge for u 1-866-966-9350.

Hoover floor mate 500

If you mean the footswitch that shifts from wet to dry, trun the machine over with the brush assembly removed. There is a black rectangular oush button on the left side. This is the wet/dry switch. Make sure it is in contact with the white post to the left of it . It is the indicator that moves when you step on it. Push the button all the way in and out until it latches. After that it should work OK. Hope yhis helps.
