My Itb lacie firewire usb2 doesn't powerup. no blue light. the adapter green light keep blinking when connected to the drive, but if you un plug it from the drive the adapter light stays without blinking.

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

Drive connected to HP Desktop running Vista Pro after one week and several re-starts PC would not boot on start-up showed scary blue screen with with drive connected without black screen then blue....

> after one week

Western Digital warranties the disk-drive to work for at least one year.
If it does not, then exercise the warranty to get a replacement, at minimal cost to you.

Try connecting it to a different PC, to see if your PC's "blue-screens" happen without it being attached.

Hi im sachin want to purchase 1 tb hard disk of cgate and LCD of ither samsung or sony.... 1. will support an external USB hard drive on this lcd's ? 2.is there any other type of hard disk i need to...

I do not know if the 1 Tb external hard will work on the USB ports on the LCD TVs.
What do you want to store on the 1 Tb USB hard drive and display on the LCD TVs?
Most LCD TVs can access USB memory sticks and display DVI movies (if supported by the TV), photos etc. that are stored on these USB memory sticks.
Try inserting an USB hard drive (borrow one if necessary, can be any capacity) into the USB port to see if it works before you decide to purchase a 1 Tb USB hard drive.
My suggestion would be to purchase a 1 Tb USB memory stick. This would out perform an external USB hard drive.

External hardrive not recognized

Try a different cable between the computer and the drive.

Disassemble the casing, and remove the "internal" disk-drive.
If the USB-to-disk-drive adapter has "died", it's possible that the
disk-drive itself is intact, and your data will be intact.

Connect the "internal" disk-drive as a "slave" drive in a desktop computer, and see if it can be detected.

If it's dead, and it's still under warranty, then exercise the warranty.

My computer does not read iomega hard drive

Make sure that your computer has usb2 ports. Older computer have usb1 ports. A 1 tb hard drive may require the newer faster usb2 port. If it is a desktop computer you can get usb2 cards or if it is a laptop you can get a usb2 converter. You may just have a driver issue. try the cd that came with the hard drive. Make sure your system is compatible.
