When you unplugged it, did you leave it unplugged for 10 full long seconds and press any button for that 10 full seconds as well, then wait a few more before plugging it back in? That is the correct procedure. If that still doesn't work, then either the firmware needs to be updated, or there is a faulty IC chip in the device that will need to be replaced.

These Terk LeapFrog do not have any buttons to push. There are 2 switches; On/Off and A/B/C/D channels. These are just 2 small boxes with 2 different antenna's. One is a regular extendable antenna and the other is a square antenna that you have to have face each other. I have tried totally unplugging every cord from the transmitter and VCR that it's hooked into and the receiver and the TV it's hooked to, then hooking each back up again. No results. I wouldn't know how to upgrade any firmware for these.
