To enter an exponent of ten, use the EXP key in the middle of the bottom row. For example, to enter 1.2 times 10 to the 7th, press
1 . 2 EXP 7

If you want to raise 10 to a value, use 10^x, the shifted function of the LOG key on the top row.

8m - 6 =2(4m -

8m - 6 =2(4m - ????
You are trying to fetch the common part from the equation.
Let's know what is 2 here? It is the common part right?
Now dividing 2 from 8 and 6.
What the process left behind??
It is - 4 and 3

So the final equation you are looking for is:
8m-6=2(4m-3)

How do I solve (3x-2y)2(3xy-3)

First, we will find y in terms of x. We will use the first equation to determine this.
4x+2y=2
We can subtract 4x from both sides:
2y=2-4x
And then divide both sides of the equation by two:
y=1-2x
Since we now have y in terms of x, we can substitute this into our second equation.
-3x-y=-3
-3x-(1-2x)=-3
Then, we can distribute the minus sign
-3x-1+2x=-3
-x-1=-3
Next, we can add 1 to both sides of the equation.

-x=-2
Finally, we divide both sides by negative one to isolate x.
x=2
Now that we have x's value, we can find y's value.
The first thing that we determined is:
y=1-2x
We can substitute in the value of x to this equation.
y=1-2x
plot-formula.mpl?expression=y=1-2%2a2&x=0003
y=1-4
y=-3
Therefore, we now have the values of both variables.
x=2
y=-3

I dont know how to do this with the ()'s! :( Please help! CONFUSED 7Th GRADER HERE WITH HELPLESS TEACHER!! :'(

Sorry to be frank about it, but your sentence ..I dont want to have to read something that looks like it was typed in a forien language!! is not flawless English.
Be it as it may, here is how you solve most, if not all, high school algebraic equations.
The secret is in the use of the mnemonic known as PEDMAS, or BEMDAS, which lists the priority of operations. USE IT BACKWARDS, and recursively (look up this word in an English dictionary).
  1. Starting from the end of the mnemonic (A or S) look for a minus sign or a plus sign. Here you have 4-12, the result is -8.
  2. Your expression is equivalent to -8 -(X+3)=10
  3. To get rid of the -8 term on the left ADD +8 to BOTH sides of the equation and simplify. -8+8-(X+3)=10+8=18 or simpler still -(X+3)=18
  4. A minus sign in front of the parenthesis is in fact a multiplication by -1. Get rid of this factor : It is safer to get rid of the - sign in front of the parenthesis by multiplying BOTH sides of the equation by (-1). This gives you (X+3)=-18. MINUS signs are always signs of DANGER, to be handled with care.
  5. Now you can safely open the parentheses: X+3=-18
  6. You have an addition in the left member. To isolate X, perform the operation that is inverse of addition, namely subtraction. Subtract 3 from both sides of the equation: X+3-3=-18-3, or X=-21
  7. X is isolated, and your equation is solved.
Basically one tries to use PEDMAS in reverse, identifying each operation and doing the inverse of it. If you have an addition, do a subtraction. If you have a multiplication, do a division. If you have a power, extract the root, and if you have a root raise to the corresponding power.
When the factor to the left of parentheses is +1 (if nothing appears it is +1) you can safely discard the parentheses.

After opening parentheses start again A/S then D/M, then Exponent/roots, parentheses, etc...until the unknown sits by itself on one side of the equal sign.
I hope that my English does not sound too much like a foreign language to you. I did my best because English is my third language.

It seems to me that you are trying to solve the quadratic equation
aX^2+bX+c=10 with a=-3, b=3, c=15 or -3X^2+3X+15=0.
Since the all the coefficients are multiples of 3, one can simplify the equation by dividing every thing by 3, leaving -X^2+X+5=0. But to avoid confusing you I will consider the original equation -3X^2+3X+15=0..
You must first find out if the equation has any real solutions. To do that you calculate the discriminant (you do not have to remember the name if you choose to).
Discriminant is usually represented by the Greek letter DELTA (a triangle)
DELTA =b^2-4*a*c =(3)^2-4*(-3)*(15)=189
If the discriminant is positive (your case) the equation has two real solutions which are given by
Solution1 =X_1=(-3-SQRT(189))/(-2*3)=(1+SQRT(21))/2
Solution2 =X_2=(-3+SQRT(189))/(-2*3)=(1-SQRT(21))/2 or about -1.791287847
Here SQRT stands for square root.

I need straightforward key strokes for a casio fx115 es graphing calculator to solve linear equations. I have the Manuel but it only confuses me. this is an example of what I'm solving ...

This calculator doesn't really support a solver like that. You can use Woflram Alpha to solve equations like that really quickly. Example
There are more expensive calculators that will solve these types of equations, but I would recommend just using Wolfram Alpha whenever you need a solution to a math problem.

Solve:6sqrt y + 6y to the negative 1/2 power =37

let sqrt of y =x

y to the power negative 1/2 = 1/ sqrt y

so our equation becomes

( 6x + 1 / 6x ) = 37

36x^2 -222 x + 1 =0

the roots of above quadratic equation are

x1=6.1621

and x2 =.0045

therefore y = x^2

y = 6.1621^2 = 37.971

and y=.0045^2 = .00002025

pls rate the solution if it was helpful.post your doubts i f u have any

.85/lb of nuts and .55/lb of nuts to equal 60lb @.75/lb

Convert what you know into a couple of equations. You'll need two equations because there are two unknowns. Call them X = pounds of nuts that sell for .85/lb and Y = pounds of nuts selling for .55/lb.

Equation a): X+Y=60 (total weight sold is 60 lbs)
Equation b): .85X+.55Y=45.00 (because we want to sell 60 lbs at .75/lb)

Rearrange a) to X=60-Y (subtract Y from both sides)
Plug this into equation b) and solve it for Y:

.85X+.55Y=45.00

.85(60-Y)+.55Y=45.00

51.00 - .85Y + .55Y = 45.00

51.00 - .30Y = 45.00

6.00 = .30Y

Y = 6.00/.30 = 20 lbs

From equation a) then, X = 40 lbs. Check the results by solving equation b).

.85x40 + .55x20 = 34.00 + 11.00 = 45.00 (checks!)

(If either of those nuts is pistachios, where do I send my money? That's a good price and I want some!)

How do you make the calculator ti 30xa convert

I have a few questions and then I should be able to help you. In the equation you want to solve there is a letter g. Is this supposed to be there? Does this represent units such as grams? If this is the only units in this equation the answer will be mass not volume. Lets ignore the units and just punch in the numbers. Assuming the equation you want to solve is 3.70/2.50 x 10^-6. The buttons you need to push are 3.7/2.5 EE 6 [+/-] =. The EE button is the exponent button and the [+/-] button is the change sign button, located just below the 3. The change sign button changes the sign of the proceeding character, in this case it changes the 6 into a -6. This calculator will calculate the exponents before it does the multiplication or division so you don't need to use any parentheses for this equation. I hope this helps you out.

I purchased microsoft office version 2003 after downloading a trial version. the purchased copy unlocked word, outlook, publisher and excel but not powerpoint, which is what I really need for a homework...

Powerpoint is not in the 'basic' version of Microsoft Office 2003. All other versions should include Powerpoint.

If you really need it now and you can't solve it, you may download OpenOffice at openoffice.org . This contains the program 'Impress', with which you can make Powerpoint presentations. OpenOffice is free, because it's Open Source software.
