I have a 6 yr old Samsung RS21 FCNS & yesterday it started making a noise, Now I believe it was the motor on the fridge section as this morning the fridge has stopped working. (The freezer side is fine). the lights all work, the digital display is flasing 1 degree for the fridge. Do I need a new motor or a new fridge/freezer. I'm hoping its a call out for the motor only!

try to lubricate or replace bushing of your evaporator fan maybe it has awear in tear that fan hard to rotate this can cause a noise and poor circulation of air cause of temp. rise
If both section are not working as required then its compressor fault. The noise you noticed must be from compressor related parts, that are fan,the motor and relay. But If freezer is getting over cold and friezed and fridge section not getting cold then Its defrost problem. Try
manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet
for 4 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,.
If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of
fridge section. You can get required parts from
www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.
If the clicking noise is comming from the rear of the frig it could be your compressor trying to start. The motor would be the fan in the freezer running. That part would be normal.
If it is the compressor it could be replaced but if it were me I would buy a new frig.
no water can be the early signs of the common issues with samsung rs21 models
what happens is the fridge cooler /defrost system goes faulty and freezers the water instead of chilling it , the best way to check is to take the 2 drawers out the bottom section of the fridge you will then be able to see the water bottle , if there's a lot of ice around the bottle then this would confirm a defrost issue , you can heat the bottle for 10 minutes or so with a hair dryer etc , if the water starts to work after this then you probably will have to call an engineer or fit the rs21 diy fridge repair kit
I have same fridge freezer & luckily a extended warranty, engineer has been out on numerous occasions & the motor is getting freezed up, which is why the noise stops when the door is opened. Get rid of it! No solution to the problem...its a faulty appliance & a well known fault with this model or so I have been told. Good luck.
Check for frost in the freezer compartment that may suggest a defrost problem which would cause it to run for extended times and make more noise. The other possibility is that if the fan is making a up and down type of noise, it will need a new fan in the freezer section due to a faulty bearing in the motor.
I have a Samsung Side by Side Refridgerator RS21 FCNS which has stopped cooling the fridge - the temp sticks on about 14deg. Yellow pages engineer came out and quoted a ghastly job and £350.
Called Samsung on 0845 726 7864 and they told me that the defrost heater is a design fault and that warranty on this component has been extended to 5 years. Someone coming tomorrow to fix it (for free).
Samsung have now repaired my fridge freezer, it is a manufacure fault.
