Window or wall mount

I want to install an ac unit in the wall of my bedroom (upstairs). Do I need a slide in/out chassis? What is the difference 'tween a "wall mount" and "window mount" unit. I don't plan to remove this unit once it is plugged into the wall so I do need to be able to provide maintenance from inside the house.

Thanks to all you ac gurus out there :-).

The differance between a window and wall mounted A/C is the mounting system.
Window units are usually smaller BTU systems they set in the window, so you do not have to cut a hole in the wall to install it.
For a bedroom say 10 x 10 you can use @ 5000 btu it plugs into a standard 120 volt electric outlet. If the room is bigger then go bigger say @ 6000 btu or so. Take your room dementions with you when shopping for a unit. sometimes they have sizing on the side of the unit box.
Wall units are usually larger units. Like whole house 18,000 btu
they slide in and out of the case and use a 240 volt seperate circuit.
Best place to shop for A/C's are Home Depot, Lowes, Sams Club, B.J.'s, and Cosco they buy in large volumeusually give a Good deal I've seen 5000 btu units as low as $89.00
Just don't drop the unit out the window when installing it
From the second floor it will void your warranty. LOL
Good Luck Phil

Hi, I have a digital tv plugged into an extension cable in an upstairs (Toshiba) bedroom; it works perfectly - receiving all channels. I have a digital tv downstairs (Samsung) where it seems the wall...

Hi Fiona
Somewhere along the line from the aerial there must be a signal splitter that feeds the upstair and downstair terminals.
Try to find that splitter and switch the output to see if the problem goes from up to downstair.
If it does switch then you know the problem is with the splitter block, and if it stays the same then the problem is with the cable and/or the connectors that run downstairs.
Also the reason you get a pixellated(snowy) picture is because of signal loss during the length of the cable you ran downstair.
If running a cable downstair becomes the best option to fix your problem , then you could buy a cheap 10db signal booster/r.f amplifier to correct the signal loss and a cable splitter to feed both tv`s
That booster would be installed upstair in your case(near the source of the signal to be amplified).
I could send you a small diagram if need be. Hope this will help and Merry Chrismas

We are possibly buying a house with no toilet upstairs, there are 3 double bedrooms, how much will it cost to put a partition up and install a toilet?

If you just want a half bath (sink, mirror, toilet, lighting, vent, and flooring, you can build a small one for about $6,000. Remember you will want to finish the walls, and add baseboards, and a door.I would hit the seller up for a reduction in sales price. Nobody has upstairs bedrooms without baths anymore.

My attic air conditioner will stay at 81 degrees in the hottest part of the day only when it is sunny when it is cloudy it works fine I have a small 900 sq foot ranch

if the difference in termperature is between 15 and 20 degrees between the inlet and outlet, the unit is doing all it can and is undersized. if not check for airflow problems, filters, dirty coils etc. and if that is all good, then there may be issues with the refrigerant charge

How can I install/mount a window a/c unit in the bedroom window of my 5th wheel? Jody

hi jody. as you know, a window a/c can not stay in a 5th wheel that is moving down the road.

that said, measure your window and find an a/c to fit it. ? You may have to remove the window unit and have a part fabricated that will allow you to slide in the a/c when you want and secure the opening when traveling down the road.

Thru the wall AC units(small)

If the Ac unit can not fit your window, you can put a wall unit, you don’t have to open the wall and mount a stable unit, you just need to buy a portable AC unit put on.

This way cost you not too much.

Through the wall vs. window installation

I just purchased an alleged "window mount" air conditioner with the closest dimensions to the existing model. Do these mount as through the wall as well? My current opening = 18 x 26" the new purchase is 16 27/32 x 26.

There are 2 different types of window air conditioners – there are the window type of which will fit in a window that opens top to bottom and there is the slide in model of which the actual air conditioner will slide into a metal sleeve which is very common in apartments. In either case you need to measure the inside of the metal sleeve and then give that to the air conditioner dealer and he will know what to do and there is also a POS (point of sale) @ the store of which will also assist you in the measurement of the A/C unit – the window unit you need to measure the opening of the window itself, I hope this was helpful

How to remove the stand from samsung LCD TV

Place the tv on its screen flat on a soft surface,
you need to remove all the screws, not just the stand one marked.
Lift the back panel and then you will be able to slide down the stand, when you have removed the back cover you will also see where how your wall mount will fit to the chassis.
Place all the screws back on the back lid.
