I have a DeLonghi 3400 Magnifica automatic espresso machine. It is ejecting the grounds in the wrong place, down the right side as we look at it. I drew a white arrow indicating. The grounds should be getting ejected to the left in the bin where there are no grounds to be found. I am not sure how this could even happen? Do you know? It's still making the espresso well. What the Spizzle it going on?!!!
I had the same problem in my "Delonghi Magnifica ESAM4400", which I had for free as it was considered "beyond repair"... On top of the difuser, there's (or there should be...) a lever that moves the grouds to the left into the small waste basket at the end of the brewing cycle. Due to the action of a spring, the lever moves than back in the rest position. In the case of my machine, both the spring and the lever were broken. After replacement and cleaning/lubricating some moving parts the machine worked as new. These are easily availlable and cheap spare parts (a few $,€,£). The spring is Delonghi spare part 6132103500, the lever is 5332139800. Total repair cost was some 7 Euros.
I have had this very problem and reported it to Delonghi as my machine is still under guarantee, they knew instantly what the problem was and said it calls for a replacement difuser which they are sending out.
I did mention that the carriage that the difuser sits in appears to be a little loose and she said it shouldn't be but to try the new difuser first. My is the 4200 purchaes in oct 2011
Did this solve the problem? I also have this problem with my 3400.
The new diffuser did fix the problem.
