Our machine is a Whirlpool ADP 5540 / 1 WH - When we turn on our dishwasher it ( having previously manually drained it by holding in start button ) it fills again - stalls for a short period and then the light on the start flashes 6 times and there is no further movement of any sort - please assist - thank you in anticipation

I've just had a new motor fitted and it seemed to work for the technician. He told me to run it at 70 degree wash for the first few washes, but as soon as pre wash finishes the on light flashes continuosly and it wont move on in the cycle.

Try just pressing the start button down for a few seconds!

Whirpool dishwasher ADPS 5540 shows F8 E1 after 30 minutes

turn off the water and remove the hose at the rear of the machine. Inside you will find a small wire gauze strainer. This blocks with limescale and debris from the water mains, just enough to reduce water flow below the thresholds..

E1 F8 Whirlpool dishwasher If F8 E1 or LF (too long to fill) appears in display, it means the washer is taking too long to fill. It's possible the drain hose extends more than 4.5" (114 mm) into standpipe.

If this is the machine with just a knob for the wash cycles, and one button to start the wash cycle, you will have to replace the timer. There is no reset that I know of.

Have a Whirlpool Dishwasher 6ADP 5540. Starts cycle - fills water then about a minute into it the start buttons flashes 6 times and will not continue on. Very rarely, the cycle does continue on. Have...

Hi Jodie,

An F6 fault code - indicated by the green light flashing in sequence next to the start button - is indicative of a water inlet problem.

First of all check that the water tap the dishwaher connected to is fully open. If this does not work check that the feed pipe from the water source to the appliance is not blocked.

If neither of these two things are the problem then you will need to order a new flow meter/ reed switch and this will sort your problem out.

The Whirlpool UK spare part number you'll need is 481241868368

Hope this helps
