My computer thanks 4 being here when i turn on my system, it indicates time out failure during scsi inquiry command. after it complains insert disk and press enter.anytime i try re-installing windows, it comlains no hard disk found and drives. unfortunately, the system might boot to windows again itself after abandoning it for some time. please help me out.

Try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents,music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

If your computer has just been formatted, your computer might require you to insert the boot CD

to be able to run it. You might hence get the error message Disk Boot Failure- Insert disk and

press enter displayed on the screen every time you will try to run it. This might be linked

to:

* 1. The boot options not correctly set in BIOS
* 2. A non bootable CD is found in your CD drive
* 3. You do not possess any bootable device
* 4. You have installed a new hard disk
* 5. The hard disk is not properly plugged
* 6. Your system files have been infected

Without knowing what motherboard is in the unit - it will be difficult to determine what the 4 beeps means.

Generally, 4 beeps means issues with :

- memory
- video card
- keyboard
- motherboard failure

Things to try -

- make sure there is no keys stuck down
- remove the battery and AC adapter, remove and re-install the memory sticks (reseating the memory)

If this does not work, your problem may be more serious. Let us know the results of the above suggestions.

SCSI is (mostly) obsolete for the desktop market unless you have a specific need with an old product such as a scanner or Hard Disk drive. The usual culprit is the device, if it is outside the case, hasn't been turned on before the computer was turned on. If you don't have any SCSI devices attached you may ignore the warning. If you are using a SCSI Hard Drive as the main drive this failure could prevent the computer from booting.

The error message you are receiving "Inquiry command failed Using IBM-PC ServerRaid Host adapter" makes me think you are attaching the tape drive to the ServerRaid Controller, which is only for Hard Disks. There should be a normal SCSI interface for attaching tape drives, etc. It's possible that the ServerRaid card is a PCI (or older) plug in card, and the normal SCSI interface will be on the main motherboard. If you look on the IBM website for the Hardware Maintenance Manual, it should hopefully make things clearer.

The reason you may not be seeing the hard drives in CMOS, is because you will need to use the IBM ServerRaid Utility to view and configure the disks.

Looks like it can't find the right disks/partitions to boot from.
The order may be being re-arranged when you attach them all at once.
Could be an issue with identification, are you using device paths
what's your boot setup? Where is the boot manager
installed ....

Try putting the tape drive on the last scsi termination point.
