If you plug the telephone into an activated (connected to the Norstar System) telephone jack, the lights should begin to blink while the phone boots-up. The system automatically assigns an extension number. To see what the ext. # assigned to the phone is, press "Feature * 0" (Button Inquiry) and press an intercom button. This will display the ext, # and Set Name of the phone.
Good Luck!

How to pick the call from other extensions

I have downloaded several manuals for the Avaya by searching online, some are good basic user guides and some very technical. You can pick up a call in several different ways - here is a copy from the manual on call pick ups:

2.2.2 Call Pickup
If you hear another phone ringing, there are a number of ways that you can answer the call if you know the user, group
or line being called.

1.If already on a call, end the call by pressing Drop or put it on hold by either pressing Hold or pressing the
button which the call is on.
2.Press an idle Intercom or Call Appearance button.
· To pickup a call ringing at a particular extension:
Dial 6 followed by the extension number at which the call is ringing or parked.
· To pickup the longest waiting call in a pickup group:
Dial 66 followed by the pickup group number (1 to 4).
· To pickup the call ringing on a particular line:
Dial 68 followed by the two digit line number.
3. You can continue the call handsfree or switch to using the handset or headset (press the HEADSET button).

To Create a Call Pickup Button (ETR 18D/ETR 34D Phone)
1.At the phone press Feature 00.
2.Program Extension: is shown on the display.
3.Press the button that you want to edit or enter a number between 03 to 80 to select a button. The current setting
of the button is displayed.
4.Press the first intercom or call appearance button.
5.Dial 6 followed by the target extension number.
6.The button function is changed to Call Pickup followed by the target extension number.
· Exit programming by pressing Feature 00. You can also exit programming mode by lifting the handset, then
placing it back in the cradle.

To Use a Call Pickup Button
1.Press the Call Pickup programmed button

Need to change extension numbers

Guessing you mean add or change extension numbers under the buttons, since you don't "add" or change extension numbers on the phone. From your set, press program dial 99 and the button you want to program. then , dial 1+ ext number and press STORE.

Do that for all the buttons you want to change then pick up the handset and drop it back down to exit programming.

How do you allocate an action to a button on the keypad.

Hi to program your soft keys either follow the instruction or click on the link that I have posted, the video shows the newer handsets but these are very similar to your 12 button handset, ther are 60+ training clips at http://abbeytelecom.com

Press the transfer button followed by 200

Enter 1234

Press 1 to 'ENABLE'

Press the speaker key

Now press 722 followed by the extension number of the handset.

Type in the number of the button you wish to change.

If it is button 3 then type 03, if it is button 11 type 11 etc.

Once you have done this the cursor will move to the right hand side of the screen.

Next press the letter D on the keypad followed by plus on the volume until it says DS.

When it says DS press the 3rd grey key beneath the screen followed by the extension number. EG DS255.

Once you have done this press the 3rd grey key beneath the screen to save.

I have panasonic kx-t7730. How to set the intercom name and number?

Changing the name and extension number can be done through system admin programming from a phone extension allowed by the class of service assigned to that extension by the phone system installer. Typically the attendant phone is allowed this ability. From the programming phone press **1234(1234 is the default password) to access programming. Once in programming dial 003 for extension numbering then press . Enter the current extension number of the phone you want to change followed by the new extension number then press . Lift the handset to end programming. Access programming again by pressing **1234. Dial 004 for extension name programming then press . Enter the new extension number you programmed then enter the name for the extension. Press then lift handset to end programming.

It is possible that your phone has not been assigned an extension number, in that case system installer programming would need to be accessed to assign the port an extension number. The port number the phone is connected to would have to be determined. This could require tracking the wiring back to where it is connected into the phone system. If this is the case I advise calling a qualified service technician.

How do i add a new phone to an existing system? I have connected the phone & just need to assign an extension number for it so that the other phones can see the system, thank you

If you have installed it on a new extension, it already has a number. By default, on a TA-series system, the jack and extension are the same, so Jack 12 is extension 112. Quickest way is to plug the phone in and dial 0. The main phone rings and the display will give you the extension number.

To program the buttons, press PROGRAM the button and dial 1 plus the extension number. The lines should already be programmed by default, but they are 0 plus 01, 02, 03 etc. Press STORE after each button you program.

If you want to program ringing and line access differently than it already is, you need to look in the Programming Manual for the specific phone system. The Panasonic cabinet is going to be white with a silver tag or a model number stenciled or embossed on the case. Something like TA-824 or TA-624 would probably be your system model.

Continuous ringing

I found this site because MY phone won't stop ringing. I was so happy to see your problem posted, because I was hoping to coattail for a solution. BUT then I found an old folded printout (2-28-03) of a FAQ from TTSystems (now out of business, I guess) that solved the problem. Here it is: The extensions have to be reprogrammed after a power outage. (My trouble started after a big electrical storm knocked out power to our building.) I guess the same is true of loss of power for any reason, maybe even unplugging them if no batteries, etc. Anyway, each phone's extension defaults to 11 after power is lost. The ringing happens because all the phones have the same extension number--11. So, reprogram them so that they have an extension number from 11 through 22. 1. Press [STORE] 2. Press [1][0] 3. Enter the two digit number you wish to assign to this phone. 4. Press [MUTE] A short ring will be heard to signal successful programming. I am so ridiculously happy that I fixed this. I hope it works for you.
