I have a BC780 XLT and its about 4 yrs. old. The display has faded out. Every thing else works fine as usual. Screen is totaly blank. Back light works fine.

Get some freeze spray and when it starts fading spray the components and see if it comes back. This is an overheating issue and not a battery issue

From your description, you may either have a bad cable to the LCD on your laptop or the LCD screen itself is going bad. I would guess a repair shop may charge $100-200 for the parts and labor, but you'll have to check your local area for price estimates.

Since your computer is nearly 3 years old, you may want to consider purchasing a new computer, especially since they start at $300-500 brand new.

Hello The problem of your television is no picture.Usually in that symptom of LCD TV the problem is no back light.If there is no back lights the screen or display is totaly black.The problem is in the back light driver board, maybe there's a blown mounted fuse in the driver board or bad or leak capacitor from the supply of the back light driver board.Thanks...Hope it will help you to fix it..

In that case or symptom,the problem is either come from the power supply or back lights inverter board.The screen or the display is totaly black when the back lights is not working. The inverter board have blown surface mounted fuses that my cause of shorted transistor,transistor or leak capacitor.Thanks.hope it will help you..

If the inverter board or the back light behind the screen were bad your display would be blank, "but windows would be visible barely" the white screen indicates a bad LCD and must be changed. It is also possible the video cable from the motherboard to the screen has come loose and will need to be reseated back into place to fix it.

software update would not do anything to restore the LCD's display, you need to have the phone repaired, it needs a replacement LCD.

The power -inverter board probably needs an overhaul.
I redo many of these.
If the screen was pinkish or flickering before it finally got to this point, it is possible that a bulb has gone bad.

If you get a blank LCD, dimly lightened by a whitish back light, then the LCD display eis either faulty, badly connected, or the ribbon connector to LCD is defective.
The camera must be taken apart, ribbon cable tested, and eventually replaced and adjusted.
If all contacts on ribbon cable return continuity (cable is fine), then LCD is faulty, and must be replaced.
Althought the job is not too difficult, an user without experience may damage the camera in attempting this repair.
My first suggestion is always taking the unit to a camera shop.

if you wiggle around the flexi cable in back of the screen it might flicker on again.
mine was faded but i was still able to see the screen .. i messed with it & it worked.
if you don't trust that way rotate the screen 90 degrees
unscrew it [MAKE SURE PHONE IS OFF!] your going to need a torx wrench, a really small 1.
take the screen off it & undo the back side of the screen & fix the cable that way.
