To do this you are going to need the service manual for your model laptop. In the service manual it will tell you how to completely disassemble the laptop. It will show you step by step and with photos.
Now I searched for a service manual for this model. I found one that is free, but will require you to participate in some free offers. I also found one that will cost 7.95 euro's (something like $12.00), but you will be able to download it immediately. You can try searching some search engines to find one for yourself, just try searching "Acer Aspire 6920 Service Manual", you may have better luck. Either way I put the links below if you were interested in what I mentioned. Good luck with your project.

I haven't replaced an inverter on this model before, but have done on a few other makes.
Generally the inverter is located on the bottom edge of the LCD screen behind the bezel.
The bezel is secured with screws on the front and or the edges of the bezel. these screws in most cases are hidden by small round plastic covers, they need to be carefully peeled off to reveal the screws. Also the bezel is held in place with plastic clips and double sided tape. Slip a thin metal strip between the screen and the bezel and carefully pop the bezel off, start at the bottom edge and work along each edge to release the bezel. Be careful not to scratch the LCD screen and be careful not to apply pressure to the face of the LCD screen otherwise you will crack the LCD screen.
ok guys...i have had the same prob and it is now solved...finally...and what an *** about way to build a computer!
The bezel that covers the on and off switch is a snap in piece (it also screws in from underneath)tand you wedge a guitar pick under it and lift and it will pop out. Then you should be able to see the screws that hold the hinges to the main frame, there are two of the screws for each hinge...BRAD justanswer.com)
The screen bezel has 5 screws on the base..3 are acessible from here, 2 are not...These 2 are in the corner and blocked by the hinge...the hinge therefore must be taken apart via 4 screws (2 then you will see 2 more) on the circuitry board...and if you can get this far...the rest is straight forward
The screen is impossible to repair if its cracked. Getting a new LCD isn't that expensive but only if you know how to replace it. Getting one from manufacturer is around 130. but there is an ebay link on the bottom you can get one for 70 or so with shipping.
This link shows you how to replace a LCD screen. even tho its not your model but is very close to how yours look.
Very annoying... but what i think caused the damage is the heat the laptop creates while gaming
Now i have a USB cooler pad for my laptop but yea all i do now is turn on my laptop to warm up for 10 15mins or so then... turn it off and turn it back on then it will work...
