Try this open your printer folder right click on the printer and make sure that the use printer off line is not checked. i have seen this be the case when ive lost power.
if these took a power surge during a storm the nvram chips are probably shot and your network pcb's will need to be replaced

How to turn printer from offline to online

Often times the printer will show being offline if the computer wasn't turned on before the printer. Also, if you have more than one printer be sure the printer you are trying to use is selected in the printer setup page.

Hp 4650dn printer showing offline. Connected through airlink router. Working fine one day, offline the next. Power cycled and checked all connections, still no luck.

Hello !

You have to self diagnose the printer by your self. Please try this solutions.

1. Usually it is getting offline when the main computer that connects directly to the printer is off and you are only sharing from this computer through a router or a switch hub. Sure it will mention that the printer is offline and cannot print anything. You need that workstation to be open to be able to connect to the printer.

2. If not, check the cable connection connecting from your computer to the switch hub or router. Maybe it is just loosen for some reasons. Remove the cable to the router and plug it again. Turn off your printer and your computer and turn it on again. Try to print test page.

3. If not, try to unplug the printer cable connecting from the computer to the printer and maybe just loose up. Turn off your computer and printer, after turn it on again. Try to print test page.

4. If still not working, it not something to do with the hardware problem. I believe is it software problem, maybe you upgrade software or install software that harms your printer. Uninstall some programs from the computer that corrupted the driver files. If you upgrade the main computer, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

5. If not, try to replace the port (whether usb port) and maybe this is the problem. Try to turn off the unit and turn it on again.

6. If not, replace the cable connection from to the switch hub, close all the PC unit and print and try to print again.

Here is the only diagnostics solution I can give to you. Good Luck and Thank you for using Fixya.

Printer offline after power outage. Restore?

Hi, Joy.

Give these a try:

1. Right-click on your printer icon and select "Offline" to uncheck and bring it back Online again.

2. Let your printer cool down for at least 5 minutes. Power it on again.

3. If you are connected to a power surge protector, flip the switch and power the printer on to see if the printer powers on again.

4. Connect your printer to a different outlet.

5. If not a power issue, remove and reinstall the printer driver.

Hope this helps.

After a power outage, my Brother printer,

First off, make sure that you have turned both the printer and the computer off and then turn them on(cycle the power). When you go to the printer in 'printers' be sure that the printer is not light in color, if it is, then it's failed to come back online or it's broken. When you say, 'I have tried going into the control panel and clicking on print offline', I take you to mean 'print online', because you don't want to print offline, you want it online...

The easiest way to solve this is to move the usb plug going into the computer from the printer from one port to another, this will force the computer to re recognize the printer. I see that this printer has network capability. I am assuming, that the printer is connected via USB and not Ethernet. [USB, rectangle the size of your pinky, but narrow, Ethernet looks like a big phone plug]. If you move the plug from one USB slot to another and you don't hear the hardware connect sound(low tone then high tone), then your printer may be broken. It is possible if it is broken that the Ethernet port still works, but using that is beyond this discussion.

Good luck,

Brett

Canon MP 600 Will Not Turn On .... grumble.

I had this same issue. Lost power in the house for just a second, but after the printer would not turn on. I think that the loss of power caused the printer to get stuck in a locked state. Tried everything I could think of including changing outlets that the printer was plugged into but nothing seemed to work. Saw a troubleshooting tip on the Canon webpage about unplugging the unit for 5 minutes and thought it was hooey, but tried it anyway. Ended up leaving the unit unplugged for probably 15 minutes and when I re-plugged it in it fired right up.
