Hello.

The drum and toner cartridge are separate items. Both are replaced by the user.

The toner cartridge holds toner/ink. The drum does the work. You will need to replace the drum for every 4-5 toner cartridges used.

I've seen toner cartridges for your printer at $36 vs $60 for a drum.

Hope this helps.

How do I change the drum in my HL-5240

First check whether it is possible to buy a new drum for your model, if possible buy a new drum then remove the toner from your printer, separate the drum unit from the toner, if you check thoroughly the left and right sides of the drum unit how the drum has been fixed in to it you will be able to find the way remove drum from the unit, then replace the new drum and fix it. Don not tough the edge wiper blade, rotate the drum and check whether it rotating smoothly in both direction.

NEW DRUM CARTIDGE STARTED USING AFTER I BOUTH IT 1

If it is a rebuilt toner cartridge then you probably will have to replace it. If it is a new oem cartridge (also try it if it is a rebuilt) take it out and ly shake it side to side. Not too hard as you could end up covered in toner. The idea is to break loose and then redistribute the toner powder evenly. Then reinsert and see if that clears your error.

Some printers don't actually measure the level of toner they count pages. So if you print things differantly than what it expects or use rebuilt carts with more toner it thorws that out. Then the only way is to replace the cartridge with a good one to reset the count.

My MF8180C is asking to replace the K cartridge, and I have bought a 301 toner cartridge but the printer has a drum cartridge instead. How do I replace the black toner into the drum cartridge or do I have...

Hi,
the toner crg is located in front of copier, the drum is separated from toner and it removes if you open upper cover.

If the copier ask you for toner open front cover and replace toner.

You do not have to replace drum if the copier doesnt tell you to replace.

Everytime I print a line appears from the top to

If the line is always in the same spot, it's because of damage to the image drum. In this printer the drum and toner cartridge are in one unit, so replacing the cartridge will fix the problem. New OEM cartridges are around $100, and after-market compatible ones are about $60. Those prices are from a few vendors I found by searching for replacement drums on Google.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

Change drum

You need to go buy a Brother DR-350 drum unit cartridge. The drum unit is the thing that the toner cartridge (TN-350) clicks into. Pull out the drum/toner unit and separate the two halves. Place your TN-350 into the new DR-350 cartridge and put back in the printer.

Using t mobile sim card on friends motorola razr

I have KM Pagepro 1300W printer, and prints dirty pages.
I tried to print with another parts (another toner cartidges and drum cartidges). The problem comes from drum cartidge, the black toner cartidge works properly. I tried to clean the cleaner parts above the drum, but didn't work. I have 2 drum cartidges with this problem. The drums are good, I tried with another drum cartidge.
What can i do? If somebody has any ideas please share with me. Thanks

After replacing black toner cartridge printer displays Drum Low

The drum and the black printer cartridge are two separate items. You will have to purchase a new drum for it. I just had to do the same thing and it ran me $150.00 at Staples.

HELP! Brother MFC-8460 "Toner Life End" won't clear

The problem with a new toner cartridge that will not signal the printer that it has been changed has to do with a gear positioned wrong on the new or rebuilt cartridge... we had 3 factory brand new toners that would not clear the replace the toner message... I finally found the following link that came from a toner company that sells refills that tells how to reposition the gear to let the machine know a new cartridge has been installed. I did the proceedure on pages 5 & 6 having to reposition the gear and all cartidges then worked flawless... it works.
