When I turn on the Z1U, the LCD shows no image but

When I turned on the Z1U, the LCD shows no image but all the on screen info is working on a black background as if I left the lens shade shutter closed. ND filters are off. The Z1U has shot over 70 weddings without any problem. It was tipped over from the tripod 2 years ago and cracked the audio input housing. It was repaired and worked fine until now. Please help.

Mine has just begun to exhibit the same symptom. Shows and records black. Shows and records bars. Just won't make a picture. Did you ever resolve this issue?

It's the flexible ribbon cable that feeds the LCD. Most likely to be the (leadless) solder that Sony's forced to use between PCB and ribbon these days. Shouldn't be an expensive repair.
It happen to me in few of my Sony cameras .

The Sony has had some problems with the LCD screen since models made about 2004, so if your camera was made since that time.

Make sure lens cover is open, if still camcorder does not show live view then it is bad ccd imager chip problem that will be replaced.
Let me know exact model of your Sony camcorder to provide you part number info of ccd imager chip.
Thanks.

Dell latitude D600 display blacks out, showing just a ghost image

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is the backlight.

If you see a very dim image or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Image has big yellow

Hi Zenmast

This is a burnt LCD that will need replacement. If the circle is yellow on a white screen , then it is your blue LCD that will need replacement.
