Printer WorkCentre PE114e. Drivers for Linux.

I've both Windows and Linux (on two winchesters) for my PC. The Printer WorkCentre PE114e is suplied with drivers for Window. When I try to print from the Linux part (Suse 11.2) it states that there is no corresponding drivers. Is it possible for this printer to do printing for both W. and L. sides? What are the appropriate drivers? Where can I get them?

The PE16 is listed as a GDI printer. This means that the laser imager within the printer is directly controlled from software, not from firmware through a portable printer language (such as PCL or PostScript).

Such printers are easier for the manufacturer to engineer (they're all software), but the "driver" must be specifically tailored for each OS. There's no Mac OS X driver for the PE16/PE114e either, they're listed as "Compatibility Level 5" (a fancy way of saying "NONE"):

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 OS. I can't find a driver for my Xerox WorkCentre xd120f printer. Any suggestions?

Xerox discontinued support services of the xd120f as of December 29, 2006. There are no plans to develop Vista or win 7 drivers for these products.

You could use a program like virtual box - http://www.virtualbox.org to create a virtual Windows XP machine; install Windows XP on a seperate partition or install the printer on another PC in your house with XP and share the printer resource across the network.

If you have the choice betwen parallel port and USB, I'd recommend connecting via USB.

I'm not certain, but I think the hardware detection routines work better via USB.

Need ubuntu linux ppd driver for workcentre 385

It doesn't look good. The following web-site called it a paperweight.

http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Xerox/Xerox-WorkCentre_385

If you have good windows drivers for this, then you might be able to share it off another system and print via Samba.

You'd be better off trading it, donating it, ebay-ing it, or keep it as a fax/ copy system.

Brother, on the other hand makes good multi-function printers and they have very good linux support for their printers. If you're casting around for a replacement, take a look at the MFC-4800.
