You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the hose you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a bunch of towels or a good big plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully.

Next: You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Have you cleaned out your pump lately. Put the pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.
Pl give me a good rating for the free help, thanks.

Opening the front panel, which was a total pain, worked like a charm. The filter was filthy and had a sock in it. Once I cleaned it, the washer now drains perfectly. However, the plastic on the inside of the washer is coming off and the drum doesn't roll as smoothly. Very loud. Thanks to all..

Clothes have a sour smell to them after being washed; what is the problem?

my mom always told me that after you use the washing machine, you have to keep the door open. otherwise, mold and mildew will flourish, and it will get on your clothes when you wash them.

How do I find the source of the sour water smell and remove if from my washer?

that smell is usually caused by a build up of soap and residue from normal laundry,, a simple way to fix this is to run a empty full load add 2 cups of vinegar to the load, it will help in the breakup of buildup in the machine,, after that ,, run a load on Hot to drain out any left over vinegar

Clothes smell like body odor after washing. using tide ultra he2 detergent.

i had what sounds like a similar problem. i complained of our laundry smelling sour then finally like sour sewage and a flooded laundry room. i was told that when its not draining properly, it can create a siphon-effect and actually pull the dirty water back out of the drain lines-yuk! i hope this isnt true.
there was a baby sock stuck in the pump preventing it from draining properly. hope your problem can be remedied as easily.
as for the smelly clothes, i always add 1/2 cup white vinegar to each load. it does wonders for odors.

Clothes are sour after wash

The odor is being transferred from your washing machine. The washer must be cleaned first or the clothing will be reinfected upon washing.
The problem area is always just above the normal waterline where suds and soiled water splash up and don't get rinsed out.

To clean your washer add 1 cap of smelly washer cleaner to a full load of laundry in a hot cycle. The added bulk of the laundry will raise the water level to include the "splash area". Intermittent pausing to soak is a good tip for more extreme problems.

Sour smell coming from washer even when door is

If you have a front loader it will hold water around the seal of the door and after time it will mold and start to smell.

Mold buildup around interior of drum - odor and spots on clothes

I've had my Duet for 5+ years with no odor until the past 6 months or so. Even changing to a more fragrant fabric softener didn't make my cleaned clothes and towels smell clean. I noticed it especially when I would grab my towel after a shower. For a while I thought someone else was using my towel and stinking it up. Then I realized it was the whole laundry. ( I was having my laundry done for me... otherwise I probably would have realized it sooner. After reading all the suggestions for resolving this sour odor I thought I would try some of the ideas suggested that I hadn't already tried. Then it dawned on me that about 6 months ago I switched from a powdered detergent (SA8, an Amwy/Quixtar product) and dryer sheets to a well-known well-ranked Liquid Detergent and a fabric softener. I only switched because my son like the way his friend's laundry smelled when he borrowed a shirt. I was using fragrance-free products. So I had fragrant laundry for a short time. Then it started to smell sour. Maybe this change was the cause. So I've ordered another box of the powdered detergent and I'm going back to dryer sheets.

In the meantime I'm still doing stinky laundry. Same day I order new detergent, I decide to wash a load with some very stained baseball pants. I sometimes use a small amount (1/4 cup) of Oxy Clean, with my detergent but I decided to go full-strength which on the box said 1 cup. Hot water wash. Put it in with the clothes. Same liquid detergent, no fabric softener. When I took out the laundry, for the first time in months, it smelled clean. No stale, sour odor. Next load, nice smell again. Decided to do one more load with 1 cup Oxy Clean again. I'm still going to switch back to the SA8 (which is by the way highly ranked by Consumer's reports) and dryer sheets.

By the way, a few weeks ago I had to disconect the water discharge line behind the washer. The sludgy goo that was in the line and machine where the two connected was disgusting, but didn't smell bad. I cleaned it out with my finger. Ugh!

So it's now several months later. My clothes smell clean, as does my washer. I switched to powder and only occasionally use liquid softener. Still occasionally use the full dose of Oxyclean with a hot load. I occasionally wipe down the door and seal... especially the bottom of the window, and always leave the door ajar when not in use.

My washer a Tromm LG DLE377W leaves a bad smell in clothes after washed the smell is in the washer also smells sour

Sears has tablets for front load washers that work great. I use one every month and it has helped the stinky washer smell and the bad smell in the clean clothes. It is called Affresh and it works better than any of the cleaners you can buy in the grocery stores.
