Go to the help menu of Canofile and check to see if there are updates available for your program at the manufacturer's web site. If you are using a newer version of a microsoft operating system than the software was made for, you can also try to set the program to work with an earlier version of Windows. Right click on the program icon, then go to properties and click the compatibility tab. Or, go to accessories, tools, program compatibility wizard.

Finally, you might want to check with canon to see if there are plug ins or updates for both your scanner and program. Thanks, I hope this helps.

Please attempt to update Canofile as suggested above, this may be necessary for your new scanner to work.

I can assume that your new scanner is set as the default and shows up under device manager under the correct port (plug)?

If that is correct, and the shared folders for the new scanner and canofile are listed under the same names, I think your best bet is to completely uninstall both the scanners and canofile and start over.

Really, this is a way of getting rid of leftover files that are "confusing" canofile. (Another way to do this look around in Canofile, usually under "edit" "File" or "add a new twain," or something similar, so you might want to try that first).

Make sure that the old scanner is uninstalled and all of the shared files as well. To make sure that all associated files are gone, restart after uninstalling, and do not plug the scanners back in.

DO NOT uninstall Canofile if there might be a problem reinstalling it do to lost registration or keys!

When you uninstall the software and scanners, If a pop says certain files cannot be removed and you need to delete one by one, you may have to do that.

The other important thing is to add the program and newest device in the sequence that is suggested by the developer and manufacturer. In other words, if the software says install after the scanner, do that. Reinstallation may give messages about newer files being available, so choose that option.

There should be no issue using the old scanner too, but make sure you reinstall the new one first. If this does not work, please leave info on your operating system so that directions can be specific and correct. thank you for getting back to me.

Not Enough Memory Canon DR 4010C

There is no 'User memory' in Dr 4010C. The memory available is sued as a buffer for processing scanned images. You need to have 'memory' i.e., storage space in your harddisk. If you are scanning in Color, you need larger space.

Hello Thank for your cooperation with us, but I have a problem after the definition of a canon scanner dr-3060 has not been identified and demonstrated a lack of scsi Did not find it from the CD and...

I am very well versed in Canon scanners with many years of experience on them so I hope my advice helps you out. With any canon scanner that uses SCSI only 3 things can go wrong with them. First I would check the SCSI cable so see if the the connecting heads have pulled away from the cable and the tiny wires are exposed. If so one of the wires may be broken. Or possibly a bent pin on the connector. A simple test would be to replace the cable with a good working one. Then try the scanner to see if it will scan.

Second, the SCSI card itself, on boot up while your still in the boot screen you should see something like ADAPTEC SCSI and then some numbers. Or something similar depending on the manufacturer of your SCSI card. That particular scanner uses SCSI II. If you dont see the prompt window on boot up then I would go to item 3 below.

The last thing to try is item 3 and you will need to go into control panel in windows to do that. In control panel I would look device manager and then imaging. Under imaging if you have a yellow question mark your system does not recognize the scanner as being connected to the computer. If you verified that items one and two above are good and functioning correctly then I would disconnect the scanner via the scsi cable from the computer and reload the drivers for the scanner and then rehook up the scsi cable and reboot the computer. Then I would go back to control panel/device manager/imaging to see if the computer now sees the scanner if it does then you are able to scan again. If it does not, and you have confirmed that the SCSI cable and card in the computer are good and working and the drivers are installed correctly. Then it would be safe to say the SCSI port on the scanner is faulty. The scanner will need to be repaired then by a Canon technican.

I hope this helps you out.

Hi got the following error message ... "ScanFile

I have many years repairing canon scanners so here is my suggestion to you.

First does the scanner power up? If so that's eliminates a internal power supply problem.

Second did anyone change the dip-switch settings on the back of the scanner? Ill assume no on that one.

Third when you first boot up your computer do you see a screen when the computer is in boot up mode that says Adaptec SCSI and then a number? If not here is a couple things to check. First I would check the SCSI cable is good. No bent pins in the connector and no exposed wires coming out of the connector. If you can try swapping a good known working cable with the problem scanner. Second try re seating the SCSI card if that doesn't work do you have another card that you know works that you can swap into the problem computer. After swapping the cable first test to see if the scanner scans, then if you replace the card again retest to see if the scanner scans.

Lastly and I have seen this happen, the drivers may get corrupted if new software is installed that relates to scanning. You may want to google DR 3020 drivers that should pull up Canon's web site and reinstall the drivers. Once you install the latest drivers then reboot the computer and test it to see if it now scans.

Im sure one of my suggestions should correct your problem. I hope this helps you out.

First ensure that the SCSI card is installed properly. Download DR 5020 drivers from http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000672.asp and install them. Use CapturePerfect ver 2 or 3 to scan documents. With SCSI based scanners/devices, one should power-on SCSI device first before starting the Computer.

CapturePerfect ver 3 is on chargeable basis! You can download ver 2.0 from http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0022439.asp?model= Though this is listed under Canon DR 5020, it works fine with DR 9080C. DR 9080C has very intelligent features and ver 2 works fine. I do not know if there are addl features with ver 3.0. I have used for scanning over 500,000 docs.

The type of scanner that can be used for canofile for windows?

CAnon 5020 is a good scanner, but requires SCSI card interface (Adaptec 2940- 50 pin card). Insrtal this card and use CapturePerfect, you will get good results.

DR-6080 Scanner runs slow

What port are you using? May be you are using usb1.0 port. Use USB 2.0 port. Sometimes Changing USB cable would do the trick! Try SCSI if you have a card and SCSI cable, but this adds to the cost. All new comps come with USB 2.0. I had similar problem with 9080C and on changing to USB 2.0, it worked fine. Don't use USB & SCSI simultaneously.
