I had the same problem and tried everything. My solution was a little unconventional but it worked!Use a double-sided 2" rubber mallet. (Below is a photo of a similiar mallet.)
how do I get my watch cover back on? - sandyjd.jpg

  1. Place the watch, crystal side down, on a vinyl padded notebook.
  2. Place one of the rubber mallet heads on the watch back.
  3. Apply pressure on the other end of the mallet's head. (Don't hammer it!)
  4. Voila, you should hear a slight pop and the back will again be secure on the watch

The rubber mallet distributes the weight evenly across the diameter of the watch back and it gives you more leverage when you push down on it. It worked great for me! Good luck!

I just had another watch with a difficult back to pop back on and I got my trusted mallet out, and then, after making sure every thing was aligned, I pressed with the palm of my hand on the other end of the mallet's head....and VOILA! it was an easy task. It popped back on easily.

I am so glad that I found the rubber mallet in my closet. I can't tell you how many times I've struggled with trying to get a back on a watch before. This works like a dream!

How do I get the back off of a Ellen Tracy watch battery sr626sw

Most watches have one of three types of rear cover. Push On, Screw On and Screw Down. The easiest way to tell is to look closely at the actual back cover. The batteries in some watches are held down with a spring loaded cover you unclip to access the
battery.
A totally smooth back cover suggests a Push On type. On the edge there should be a groove or a notch. Use a thin edged tool to lever off the cover with a firm but gently action. Once you have replaced the battery the cover should push on and click once in place.
If it has regular notches or dimples around the edge of the cover the whole cover will need to be unscrewed, the 'Screw On' type. The whole cover needs to turn like a bolt head. This often needs a specialist tool to do it.
The last type is a rear plate held down with four tiny screws. This is normally most common on 'Sport' watches.

How do I put the back cover on a Waltham watch?

Try hooking the edge furthest from the winder at first, then work toward the winder.

If that isn't enough... warm the back cover with a hair dryer while you chill the rest of the watch. Serious as anything - the warmed cover will expand JUST SLIGHTLY while the cooled watch will contract JUST SLIGHTLY, maybe enough to snap that cover on. You can cool the watch in a freezer, but if you do... quickly snap the cover on while you hold the watch in the still-open freezer. If you take the watch from the freezer and leave it open at room temperature, it'll get moisture condensate inside. Leave it cold until the cover's on.

It also helps to wear cotton gloves if you use the heat-and-cool approach - then your hands won't appreciably cool the warmed cover or warm the chilled watch.

The watchmakers have a special watch press that squeezes the back into place - it's padded to prevent damage to the crystal, and applies a little extra force to the center of the back to buckle the rim outward just slightly during pressing. Like the opposite of a wheel cover for a car.

How do I remove the back of this watch?

I have seen other burberry watches and the back should pop out .
1- Locate a very small tab or recessed area on the edge of the back cover 2- Pull out the stem, which releases the back on some watches.3- Get a small flathead screwdriver it needs to be a thin inflexible tip 3- Very carefully slide the blade under the tiny metal protrusion on the back cover (or across the length of the recessed area, depending on which type of cover your watch has). 4- When you replace the cover, make sure you line up the stem slot on the cover with the stem of the watch. How to remove oasis watch battery back

To remove the battery from the back of an Oasis watch, you will need a small flathead screwdriver or a coin.
  1. Locate the battery cover on the back of the watch. It is typically located at the 6 o'clock position.
  2. Insert the screwdriver or coin into the notch on the battery cover.
  3. Gently pry the battery cover off of the watch.
  4. Remove the battery from the watch.
  5. If you are replacing the battery, insert the new battery into the watch, making sure that it is oriented correctly.
  6. Replace the battery cover by aligning it with the watch and pressing it into place.
If you are having trouble removing the battery cover or if the watch has a different type of back, you may need to refer to the manufacturer's instructions or consult a professional watch repair service. It is important to handle the watch carefully to avoid damaging it.

I have a columbia watch cl 7204. does the back pry off or rotate?

mcdevito75 here, Basically there are 3 ways to remove the watch back, If there are 4 screws holding the back onto the caseing you"ll need jewelers screwdrivers to reove the screws and cover, if there are square holes going around the edge of the back cover you"ll need a special tool called a case back remover tool available on ebay to un-screw the back cover, or the cover simply prys off. Look for a tiny tab on the back cover you may need a magnifier glass available at most Dollar stores or there may be a **** between the back cover and case of the watch to pry off the back cover, use a sharp knife and carefully twist the knife oncwe you find this tab or ****.

I have a cat watch and i dont know how to get the back of so i can change the battery.

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
I am not familiar with Cat watches, but here are instructions for basic watch backs:
Locate a very small tab (or recessed area) on the edge of the back cover. This is the access point for removal. You can find this sometimes by running your fingernail around the back rim, as this tab or indentation can be hard to see.
  • 2Pull out the stem, which releases the back on some watches.
  • 3Get a small flathead screwdriver it needs to be a thin inflexible tip. Use a kitchen knife as a last resort. Wrap the hand you are holding the watch with in a towel or protect your hand in some manner so you don't injure yourself if the screwdriver/knife slips.
  • 4Very carefully slide the blade under the tiny metal protrusion on the back cover (or across the length of the recessed area, depending on which type of cover your watch has). Do not attempt to insert the point of the knife. Use the length of the blade.
  • 5Get under the tab or recessed area and gently but firmly turn the blade upward, popping the cover off.
  • 6When you replace the cover, make sure you line up the stem slot on the cover with the stem of the watch.

Trouble replacing rear analog watch cover

mcdevito75 here, Replaceing that back cover can be a real pain. I think I have a tip for you. Place the cover only in the Frig. for about 15--30 minutes, the cold should shrink the cover just a bit so it may be easier to snap back onto the back of your watch.---------- OR, Make sure any cutout on the back of the watch is lined up with the stem, make sure any lip used to pry the back cover off the watch is also lined up with the case of the watch if need be. Place the back cover on the watch back, place the watch on a sturdy table, counter top etc. Crystal up, now with even, even pressure useing your palm, press down on the crystal, this should get the back cover to snap back on. Remeber even, even down ward pressure useing the flat palm of your hand on the crystal, press down slowly and the back cover should snap on. If not, visit a small watch repair shop in your area as they have a special pliers just for this job.

Unscrew the back of a lorus watch

mcdevito75 here, Most Lorus watches use a press fit back cover on their watches, simply us e a knife with a sharp edge between the case and cover and with a slight twisting motion the cover should come off, Also Look for any slots in the cover that match a slot in the case, or a very slight extension or lip on the cover, this is where you"d place the knife and use a slight twisting motion to remove the cover. If there are screws on the back cover you"ll need to remove those screws to get the cover off. Your Local small watch repair shop can help out.

I cant seem to get the back of the watch off. How do i change the battery in my Columbia watch.

    Remove the back cover.

On some watches, the cover will pry off using a very small flat-bladed screwdriver or will have screws holding the cover on. On other brands the entire cover will unscrew. Examine the edge of the back cover. If there is one small depression along the edge of the cover then the cover will pry off. If there are screws present, the cover will lift off after the screws are removed. If the cover has a raised edge with flat edges opposite one another then the cover will unscrew.
