Re: Yamaha RX V670 Receiver Powering Off

Re: Yamaha RX V670 Receiver
My receiver has been working fine until now. It shuts itself off after a less than 5 seconds. It keeps happening after I turn it on, it turns itself off. What's causing this? Is it worth repairing?

I have found there are capacitors failing through the output circuit. Look for 10, 33, 47, etc.. microfarads. In that range. I charge typicaly 150 to $200 with parts on something like this. Larry's Electronics [email protected]

Hi my amp had no 9.5V rail.I determined this by disconnecting zener diode D144 then it stayed on.I traced the fault in the reg to C181 100uf across the zener D155 causing no output from the regulator transistor....so caps again it measured 20 ohms
I hope this helps someone

Amp keeps shutting off

• Check again with no speakers connected, if it doesnt shut off,

Check speaker system, connect one at a time to find the cause.

• If the receiver still shuts down without the speakers,

troubleshoot inside the unit.

Yamaha rx-v456 av receiver, shut down with optica cable

Does it work without PS3 attached?
When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.

My Yamaha RX-V661 shuts off at moderate volumes.

Try to disconnect speakers one by one and see if any of them causes the problem.

Yamaha receiver turns off seconds after being turned on

It sounds like the amp is going into protect mode.
Dissconnect all speakers from back of amp and then try to turn on.
If it works, you have a short on one or more of the speakers.

Won't stay powered on

There is a relay right next to the fuses on the inside dg1u it says on the top. I cleaned it and pressed down firmly on it and it seem to have fixed it. It fired up for the first time.. The relay might need to be replaced if this doesnt work for ya.
I found a solution at: http://www.diyforums.net/forums/domestic-electronics/11098-yamaha-rxv795-receiver-shuts-itself-down-after-some-time.html

Yamaha Receiver shutting itself down

First of all, make yourself sure about the issue that the impedance between your amp and the speakers is fine. If it is so, the problem must be caused by some blown capacitors. The main reason could be surge or something. You had better call Yamaha service, and get your amp serviced.

Yamaha Receiver RX-V630 not working (resets itself immediately)

This maybe an easy one. Have you unhooked all the wires going in to the stereo. "SP wires" means you have wires to the speakers are touching and the stereo is shutting down to avoid overloading. Hope this helps...
