Grinding noise when printing

When the printer first comes on or when printing a page, the printer makes a grinding sound like the gears on the toner cartridge are not turning. I just put in a new cartridge and it still makes the same sound

How we can solved the hp lj p2055dn printer noise

Hopefully one of the first four suggestions helped you. If not if you could post more detail as to what kind of noise is the machine making: a grinding noise, a squealing noise, how loud is it. descriptions such as that would be helpful in diagnosing the issue. Without a description of the noise any of those first four posts could be relevant. The easiest thing to try first would of course be a toner cartridge I have experienced them many times making noises especially if they're aftermarket cartridges. Other than that grinding noises are typically fuser related in that machine, with squealing and high pitch noises the description of the noise is very important because it could be a fuse or it could just be dirt in a gear cluster rubbing on a shaft or it could be the laser assembly. Ireally hate to post absolute diagnosis without enough detail especially when it comes to you having to spend more money. Hope this helps.

What is the cause and solution of a loud grinding noise coming from a xerox workcentre 6605 when printing

Sometimes when the toners get low on toner you will hear the gears grinding, or if there is an obstruction in the waste toner auger. Also check the drum units to make sure they are turning freely.

Grinding noise

I just chatted with Dell support about this since I have the same problem of the grinding noise on my C1760NW Dell printer. I have it plugged into an APC backup battery which acts like surge protector (unless power goes out then battery kicks in). He said the printer needs more power and that surge protectors and battery backups are not good for this printer since they restrict the power which sends less power to the motor and fuser than what it was designed for. So with less power from the APC backup/surge protector, the motor moves very slow and may not fuser the toner to the page correctly and can cause permanent damage over time. So I plugged into the wall directly instead and the grinding noise went away immediately even when printing 10-15 pages right after plugging into wall, but then the noise came back when I printed a bigger job. So for now I'm letting it cool down for a couple hours and crossing my fingers that the damage is not permanent. So... answer is plug it into the wall directly for maximum power and hope that your printer is not permanently damaged. By the well, Dell support chat was awesome.

Copies are coming out with a dark horizontal lines and printer is making a rather loud sound when paper is in printing process.

Two things that can cause print quality issues and noise.
1. The toner cartridge can cause lines and sometimes can make a squeaking noise.
2. The fuser can cause streaking and smudges on the prints and can cause a grinding noise if the drive gear is worn or the bushings are worn.

Lexmark C510 is making grinding noises while printing large jobs

I found another posting stating that the culprit was the black toner cartridge. Sure enough I changed our black cartridge and the grinding noise has stopped. No wonder the grinding noise was not happening all the time only when the black cartridge got low. Thanks for the help!

Hp laserjet 3330 gears on right side grinding after print

The most common problem with grinding is from compacted toner. Try changing the toner cartridge.

Grinding noise only when printing a large print job

It is passable the grinding noise is coming from one of the toner cartridges in the printer.

Check for any toner cartridges which are stiff or difficult to turn by hand
Replace and refilled toners or compatible toners with original manufactures toners.
If you have alternative toners available replace each toner in turn to see if the cause can be identified to a particular toner.

Gringing noise when printer boots up and when it prints

Probably worn gears for the rollers along the paper path or the gears that mesh with the imaging roller in the toner cartridge. Remove the toner cartridge and reseat it. Also look for any rounding of the gear teeth on any of the rollers while you have to cartridge out.

Makes grinding sounds & usually prints blank

Try new toner cartridge, or even the old one if you still have it. Check if the grinding noises go away.

Gears grinding with Brother Intellifax 4100

Does it only make the noise when printing. Do you hear the noise when sending out faxes? I have heard grinding noises onlt when using poor quality toner refills, or the fuser gear and or drive gear asm is stripped. First try a known good OEM toner.
