The DX7590 works with SD (and MMC) cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card and thus will not work. You'll have to stay with cards 2GB and smaller.
Hello Richard, A new battery is not going to solve your problem, you have an internal malfunction in the DX7590 unit that will require a camera tech to repair. The repair will exceed the value of the camera,my advise would be to sell yours on E-Bay for "parts" and by one like it in perfect working order so you can still use all your accessories.
