The Control Lock is actually a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance. With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, or by leaning against the control panel and is usually not an indication of a washer malfunction.

If this is a Whirlpool Duet series, the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this corrects the problem for you.

The 'CONTROL LOCKED' light is on and I am unable to use the dryer.

Have you tried turning the control lock off by holding down the designated button or buttons to do so? If that does not work try disconnecting power from the machine for a short period of a time and then reconnecting to see if a reset resolves the problem.

Dryer problem

Here is the link to the owner's manuals etc. if you need it; http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search_results.jsp?searchTerm=GGW9250PL&siteCode=WHRCOM Check the first owner's manual, page 14. It says; " Control Lock. This feature allows you to lock your settings to prevent unintended use of the dryer. You can also use the Control Locked feature to prevent unintended cycle or option changes during dryer operation. To enable the Control Locked feature when dryer is running: Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for3 seconds. The control is locked when a single beep is heard and the Control Locked status light is on. When the dryer is off, it is not necessary to press the Control On button before activating the Control Locked feature. To unlock: Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds to turn this feature off. NOTE: When the dryer is running and Control Locked is on, the dryer can be stopped by pressing the Pause/Cancel button, but can?t be restarted until the control is unlocked." Hope this helps :)
