Hello,
Yes i concur...the F1 error code does mean that the Thermister is defective and needs to be replaced.
It fits the housing where the lint filter is and you can remove the panel below the main front panel where the door is mounted .
The part number for the THERMISTER is 8577274 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;

WHERE IS THE FUSE LOCATED IN THE WHIRLPOOL GAS
If you remove the back panel. you will see the blower housing on the left side. O n the right side of the blower housing near the bottom you will see the thermal fuse mounted above the operating thermastat. To test you will need a Volt/ Ohm meter. Set meter to RX1, take off a lead, and probe both terminals, Look for zero reading, if its high or infinity you will need to replace.
