Hello- First of all, congratulations on getting it out, apart, and back together again! There are two types of switches for this cooktop. One for the dual, other three are single. Wires can be a trick sometimes. Replacement switches look different sometimes, but work the same. If part is correct, check wire connections at contact points. Lightly crimp any loose ones. Partselect.com has the wiring diagram for JED8430.  Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed. - Thanks- ED

One of the burners stays on high. can that be fixed?

Hello, Thank you for your post. Sounds like your having a problem with one of the burners on your cooktop. Yes, you can have this fixed. The burner that stays on high has a bad infinite switch. Once you change out that switch your cooktop will work as normal.

Happy Holidays!

One burner no longer adjusts temp when moved from 1 to High

This is usually the infinite switch has failed. They are easy to check and inexpensive. Here is a video that will walk you thru testing an infinite switch. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations for your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

My Jenn AirCooktop Model CVE3401 burner problems

The part you need to replace is the switch. The switch is housed under the top and connects to the dial you are turning.
The switch for the dual burner is 12002125, and 74011242 for the single burner.

The single burner switch runs about $20.00 and the dual runs about $50.00 for the parts

Stove top is throwing sparks & flipping the fuse. Also one burner is either on or off. Where to look first?

I think that one or more of your infinite switches have shorted and need to be replaced.

For an exploded view of the unit check out

My electric stove top burner only works on high

This is for the glass top units. well i'm not sure if your problem is with your large or small single burner or the large expandable burner. If it's the large or small single burner replace the burner and if it the expandable also replace the burner. If you have a coil burner replace the infinite switch. Good luck hope this helps you.

Tripping breaker

I had the same problem. Mine was caused by liquid seeping into the infinite switch (the switch that gets rotated by the knob to set burner temperature). This caused one of the live wires to short to ground within the switch. Bad Design IMHO. Replacing the switch fixed the problem (you can get replacement parts at Searspartsdirect.com - search using the cooktop model number). To get at the switch you need to remove the top by taking off only the top row of screws all around the unit and also in the down draft cavity.

Knob not working and some burners not heating

The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.
