My camera won't accept it.What doI need to do?

It may be a correct physical size (SD card) but other factors also matter
- un-supportted file system (SDXC is exFAT)
- max addressable space (gb) by the device
- support speed (Class #)
see Speed Class SD Association
- higher processors for Ultra Hi Def recording at higher frames will need higher speed

My suggestion is
(a) verify if your camera has a newer firmware that could support high capacity. if not...
(b) do not format on the camera because it may limit it in size.
(c) use this 64gb on other device like laptop.
(d) sell it on ebay
Prefer newer memory format like MicroSD with microSD adaptor/ holders

I have a coolpix S2550 and i lost the charger for it so the battery was/is completely drained, i have recently found the charger, but now when i turn the camera on it comes up with a white screen and says...

Rechargeable batteries don't like being left in a discharged state for very long and are soon damaged.

If the battery is healthy but discharged it might be demanding more current than the charger and internal circuitry can provide causing the charging process to shut down.

The battery might be so discharged it is effectively open circuit and practically useless though sometimes it is possible to force them to take a charge by applying a much higher voltage (I use a car battery) to the terminals for maybe 2 or 3 seconds. It is a kill or cure thing...

It is probably the battery. A lot of these cameras have electronically controlled shutters, that automatically fire at the fastest speed possible if there isn't a battery to slow it down.

Why does the flash automaticly go off how can i get it to stay on

This is a "flash" in the truest sense of the word, you cannot make it stay on. When the flash is charging that is happing is that a circuit in the camera is taking voltage from the battery and turning it into a much higher voltage that is then discharged when the flash goes off. You may noticed that it takes longer to charge the flash as the better is getting weaker, that is because the battery have less current to provide the charging circuit.

I think you are thinking that is can be used as a light (maybe for video mode) but this is not available in the vast majority of digital cameras.

The camera functions great. After a very short time the batteries drain. Is this a common problem? Fixable for a cost less than the replacement cost of the camera?

Yes. and Yes. I am guessing in the dark. I am assuming that your digital camera takes rechargeable batteries? If it does, after so many times you charge you battery they do have a tendency to go bad.

There are many website out there that will sell you a battery for that camera, but becarful some will sell you refurbish battery. To be on the safe side I would go to the manufactor of the camera website first to see what a new battery would you there.
