Nvram mismatched for t642 lexmark printer - Lexmark T642 Laser Printer

Have you replaced any components on this printer? This error happens if you replace the display, engine card or interconnect card with one from another printer. Parts are not reusable.

Hi, What you need to do is to reset the NVRAM. That will also delete your network information and passwords you set for the printer. Please see steps below: Method 1 (from Standard Menu): - Network/Ports -> press LEFT ARROW button and RIGHT ARROW button simultaneously -> Select NVRAM -> Select "Reinit NVRAM" Method 2 (with Config Menu): - Press CHECK button and RIGHT ARROW button while POR -> Select "Factory Default" -> Select "Restore Network" -> Press CHECK button If you have questions about your Lexmark printer, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]

If the lcd that you put in came from another printer instead of Lexmark, it will say that because the lcd, riser card on rip board and rip board all contain nvram that has to be matched. an lcd from Lexmark will no have any nvram data and the nvram will be copied from the other two sources upon install. The only way to get the lcd out of another machine is to get all of the above parts from the same printer at the same time.

You have to install a brand new front display, the display board has a backup of the nvram, on boot the system board check the nvram and if it don't match it will return an NVram mismatch error

take the cartridges out and clean the spot they go into then clean them off also

1. Turn off the printer and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.
2. Then power the printer back on.
   • If the error does not return, try printing a few print jobs. If the error still does not return, continue using the printer as before but keep an eye on it for the next few days. If the error does not return, it may have been an isolated incident.
   • If the error does return, you can perform an NVRAM reset on the printer. Note: Please do this only as a last resort before requesting service. Resetting the NVRAM on the printer will cause the printer to return all customer-defined settings to the factory defaults. To perform an NVRAM reset:
     1. Turn off the printer.
     2. With the printer still off, press and hold the following three buttons: Select, Go, and the right arrow (>) Menu button. All three of these are located on the printer's LCD screen.
     3. While holding the three buttons down, power on the printer.
     4. Continue holding these buttons until you see Performing Self Test, Clearing NVRAM, or Restoring Factory Defaults on the printer's LCD screen. You can then release the buttons.
     5. If the error does not return on power up, continue using the printer but keep an eye on it for the next week or two.
        • If the error does not come back, the printer should be fine.
        • If the error does return, the engine/system board will most likely need to be replaced.

Its a two key combo. Try the following;

Press and Right arrow and menu together and power on printer OR
Press and Right arrow and GO together and power on printer
