I have a Dell 3100cn with a error code 004-332. It says to restart printer. I tried to replace the drum eventhough it didn't request for one.
Dell 3100 cn
Error Code 004-332 problem
I tried this solution but wasn't quite sure how it's possible.
"Pull out the drum. Open the front door. Then close back this door then at the same time, move
the carousel around back or forth. The carousel now is able to be free to rotate. During rotating
you try to pull out the catridge. If it is locked, then adjust it to the position to be free."
Instead i pulled out the drum unit and pushed down with a bit of force on the toner carousel. I heard the gears grind which didn't sound real pleasant but the error went away. Instead I received an error message this time to remove and reseat the Cyan toner. Tried this multiple times w/o luck so i replaced the Cyan toner and it freed it up. Now I'm getting a paper jam message but there is no jam. Stuck again but making progress...
One of 4 cartridges have been put at wrong place. First, try to take out the cyan, if unable to
pull out, then the problem is to adjust its position.
How to do that?
This is the trick:
Pull out the drum. Open the front door. Then close back this door then at the same time, move
the carousel around back or forth. The carousel now is able to be free to rotate. During rotating
you try to pull out the catridge. If it is locked, then adjust it to the position to be free.
In our situation, the solution to the "004-332 Restart Printer"
error involved clearing excess toner from the 'Rotary Home
Position Sensor' as follows:
1. Power off the printer.
2. Disconnect the power cord and any USB or network cables.
3. Remove the left side panel from the printer by removing the
machine screws and carefully lifting/pulling the panel away
from the printer. There are several plastic 'tabs' that hold
the panel in place, which may break if too much force is
applied while removing the panel.
4. With the exposed left side of the printer facing you, give
your attention to the LV/HVPS (WD519 Low Voltage High
Voltage Power Supply) circuit board assembly on your right
(i.e. toward the front side of the printer).
5. Disconnect ONLY the four power cables (it is not necessary
to disconnect any of the ribbon cables near the top of the
LV/HVPS): two near the LV/HVPS bottom, two near the LV/HVPS
left side.
6. Remove ONLY the machine screws which secure the LV/HVPS to
the frame of the printer.
7. Swing the LV/HVPS to your right (i.e. toward the front of
the printer). At this point you will have access to the
'back' (i.e. 'connector') side of the RHPS (Rotary Home
Position Sensor), which is approximately 1.20 inches by
0.80 inches (3.0 cm by 2.0 cm) and is held in place by a
single machine screw .
8. Remove the machine screw which secures the RHPS, and
extract the RHPS from its slot.
9. With a soft brush (or a can of compressed air), clean off
any toner powder from the RHPS infra-red lenses.
10. Follow the procedure above in reverse order to re-assemble
the printer and return it to service.

Nine times out of ten this error indicates a toner cartridge not properly locked into the carousel. Look for a cartridge that has spilled toner in the carousel, that is probably your best clue to look for. If you find spilled toner DON'T blow it around, vacuum or wipe it up. Don't see excess toner spilled somewhere? Remove each cartridge and re-seat them over and over again and you will eventually clear up the problem.
Hwww..you'll find that service/user manual here
got back up for your computer?
Error code: 004-332
This type of error code implies
that you need to restart the printer again. However, do check to see if
toner cartridges are seated in the proper position. Also ensure that
they have been locked in. This is an error commonly associated with the
Dell 3100cn laser printer.
