My Palm won't turn on, so I assume the battery has finally gone. I have taken the 2 screws out of the back but I can't figure out how to get the back off. Could someone describe how this is done? Thank you, Brian

Hello

After taking the first 2 screws out you need prize open the cover. There are two indented areas between the front and back plates near the bottom of the device on each side. Behind these areas are clips, and can be released by pushing inward whilst prizing apart the two plates. Prize all the way along until back cover comes straight off. You might want to do do this on a warmer day or when the device has been in a warm house for a while as the materials will be more flexible and less brittle.

Hope this helps ya

Jim

How to remove the keyboard of a HP Mini 110 3130sv

Removing the Damaged Keyboard
1. Enusre the laptop is fully powered off, unplugged laptop ac adapter from the wall, and the battery taken out.
2. Turn the laptop over. On some models icons indicating which screws are attached to the keyboard for HP Mini 110-3130sv displayed. If not, you may have to "eyeball" it if you can't find a breakdown for your model online.
3. Remove those screws with a T-8 or Phillips screwdriver.
4. Turn the laptop back over and open it up. Check and see if the HP laptop keyboard is tucked under any plastic pieces. If so, find if those plastic pieces are screwed into anything, and unfasten them as well. If not, it probably uses clamps that can easily be removed.
5. Remove the plastic pieces carefully with a toothpick or plastic pick if there is any in the way.
6. Unscrew any screws at the top (if necessary) and remove the keyboard itself from top to bottom. You'll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, ribbon cable to the system board at the bottom.
7. Take that same pick and lift the plastic connectors that hold in this data cable in place.
8. Carefully remove the data cable. Now the whole HP Mini 110-3130sv replacement keyboard should be free.
Replacing the keyboard.
1. Take the new keyboard out of the plastic, and slip the data cable back in between the plastic connectors on the system board. Make sure it's all the way in.
2. Use the pick to push the plastic connectors back into place, and make sure it's holding the data cable in.
3. Slip the keyboard itself into place, from bottom to top. Make sure the screw holes or clamps line up at the top.
4. Refasten the keyboard in place at the top.
5. If you had to remove any plastic pieces, carefully snap them back in and replace any screws you had to remove.
6. Turn the laptop over and replace all of the keyboard screws.
7. Finally, put the battery back in and power on the laptop. If all has gone well, the HP Mini 110-3130sv Keyboard should be functioning like brand new.

How do I replace the battery. I have a new battery and I have taken the screws out but cannot get the back off the palm. What do I need to do?

The back of the palm are hold by 2 screws, now that you say that you have removed them, the back cover are now only hold by clips, you just have to pull the cover gently but firmly, you can use a credit card or anythig like that to remove the cover, be careful cause the battery its attached to the back cover and if you pull it too much you will broke the cables!

Finally go my Palm Centro to turn on...all my data is gone

need to resync your phone to your computer. the settings and info you had before will be saved there. if you never hotsynced your phone to your computer before this, you're outta luck and you gotta do it the old fashioned way, retype everything back in.

My battery died, when I charged, and turned my phone on all of my text messages were gone. Is this a common problem with this phone?

Usually this happens when the battery is taken out while the phone is still on, I believe the term is a hard reset. If you've been syncing your phone on a regular basis then, you should still be able to retrieve your texts.

Palm Pilot will not turn on

I remember the Palm Pilot days, and the rush to buy them. If you make sure you're grounded (static electricity is deadly to electronics) I don't think there is too much risk in taking the unit apart, assuming you have some screwdriver skills. I have taken them apart without any issue, and iirc, the button wasn't too hard to get to once you get the screws out (four maybe?).
Good luck, and let us know how it goes. I know how frustrating it is to have a great bunch of data in limbo.
