Yahoo messenger When i install the new messenger it gives me an error first it says Download of file has been canceled or interrupted 404 not found. then it says the file c:\documents and settings\casey peck\local settings\temp\73056671ytb_inst.exp could not be opened. and then i cannot sign in to yahoo. please help if you can. thank you very much

It looks like the download was interrupted or the file is corrupted. Try to download the latest version of Yahoo Messenger and re-install the software.

Download it from there website:

open once downloaded and run

And follow the guide on the install! easy!

Try deleting the yahoo messenger folder from the local hard drive "c:\Program Files", also scan your computer for viruses before re-installing Yahoo Messenger.

Vista is the key as its looking for the administrator to complete the installation
You need the following OS to support Messenger
Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 / Vista / XP64 / Vista64
If that is not an issue read on.

The problem may be due to a mal-function of the uninstall software.
Close all programs when uninstalling / downloading and uploading.
If you tried to uninstall the old Yahoo Messenger program from the Control Panel and failed to back it up with a visit to the 'C' drive, you may have old software conflicting with the incoming software trying to share the same folder.
If you have Vista the whole Messenger folder should have been removed during the uninstall.
Check
Start > Computer >> Local drive (C) >> Program Files >> Yahoo >> Messenger. - The Messenger folder should have been deleted and not seen. If the Messenger folder is still visible - delete it.

If you have a pre-Vista OS, the Messenger folder remains, and inside, only one sub-folder should be seen. This is the 'Profile' folder and contains all the message history. All other software should have been deleted.

Manually delete any other folders and files before moving on

Download 'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times.

yahoo messenger does not work at all

As i understand you have downloaded and installed yahoo mensenger, However its not working.

Please do the following to get yahoo messenger running.
1.First Uninstall yahoo messenger from your laptop.
2. restart your computer. Then check if all the files are deleted from Program Files and also from the registry. If not once again delete all entries of yahoo files.
3.restart your computer. Normally while downloading yahoo messenger, you have to make sure that there is no interruption in downloading. Else all the files dont get downloaded.
4. Normally to download yahoo messenger it takes 30 min to 45 min of time from the website.
5. Use the link below to dowload yahoo messenger. Please use different version of yahoo messenger as per the operating system you are using.

6. Once downloaded please install with all other messenger services exited.
7. Open yahoo messenger and login using username and password.
It will work

it means that there is a forbidden error... it occurs if u use the wrong link or if there is no response from the server due to some reason (like busy server)...
