Defective fan clutch, if it has one. With a cold engine only, try spinning the fan blade by hand. If it does not turn freely, the fan clutch is defective. Warning: When the engine is hot, the fan can turn on by itself with the car not running and keys are NOT in the ignition.

strut to body mount nuts 33 ft. lbs

strut to knuckle nuts 90 ft. lbs

Check your oil. Could be valve lifters knocking. Hopefully not the piston rods.

Unfortunately it's a (relatively) one year only engine (without major component changes). However, these will fit without those changes:

'97, '98, '99 Buick Century,

'98, '99 Lumina (car),

'98, '99 Grand Prix,

'99, Monte Carlo.

This is assuming that you have an (8th digit) "M" VIN. Off the top of my head.

Look for attachment bolts inside the air box under the filter at the bottom. ducts usually pull right out, just watch that you don't break or damage wiring etc.

I will tell you to check the Coil pack. And see if there any dirty with rust or need to be change. If not try any air sensor specially the ABC.. Hope this help..
