98 grand prix battery keeps loosing its charge

First you will need to determine if its your battery or your charging system. If possible borrow a battery load tester. You can also purchase one for about 15 to 20 dollars. If the results are good then you most likely have a problem with your alternator. You can have it tested also at an auto parts store before you buy a new one. You could have an electrical short also. Please let me know if the battery and alternator is not the problem and I will research possible electrical shorts and where they would be located.

Looked at the fuses under the hood and by the glove box, and can't find the trunk release switch fuse. The trunk is continuously opening by itself and I want to pull the fuse.

There isn't one. It's controlled by the BCM. You have a shorted wire or the switch is bad. Pop the switch out and unplug it. If it still happens(shorted wire) open the trunk and pull the plug off the latch.

Can shift out of park without foot on brake pedal. owners manual describes a check for brake-transaxle interlock switch and says if you can do this there is a problem. where would the problem be? igni

Have you performed work on the vehicle lately? Had the console out (assuming a floor shifter) for any reason? If yes, it is possible that you have the cable (between ignition switch and shifter) out of adjustment. If you suspect the brake pedal switch, are the brake lights also stuck on? Do the brake lights illuminate when you depress the brake pedal? Will the cruise control set? Use these three questions to troubleshoot if the pedal switch is functional. If this just suddenly began, then I would suspect the brake pedal switch. Try these things and report back for assistance. helpful-rowrfu10slju0iejfqxy2apg-1-0_7.png

Dash board clock will not light up any more.

I had the same problem on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I sent my radio out for repair of illumination. You can find online places that will provide shipping labels for sending the radio in and returning it back to you.

Ignition Key Lock solenoid not working

The closed park position switch within the automatic transaxle supplies voltage to the steering electric park lock. The energized electric park lock pulls the mechanical lock in the ignition key cylinder away from the cylinder. The ignition key can then be turned to the LOCK position. The key can then be taken out of the cylinder. I have 11.53v on the power side and ground side to battery has 11 ohms ? do a voltage drop test on the ground side not ohms . Do you know what voltage drop is ? Learn the right testing procedure , you could have broken wire strands inside the insulation , apply current an the circuit won't work correctly , but would show ok with ohm test's . My 98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP is leaving parallel (front-to-back where the tires are) yellow-orangish stains in my driveway. I can't find any leaks.

Sure sounds like rusty rocker panels. When it rains water at the windshield drains into the rockers and out along the bottom of the rocker panels. If they are showing rust on the outside they are rusted on the inside.

Low oil pressure light on at idle

first check the wire going to the sensor, give it a good clean on the conditions. if this does not sort the problem it could be because of the oil change, muck in the oil could of gotten into the sensor, you maybe able to clean it out but you may need to replace it. when an oil change is done they would put a cleaning agent in with the oil, this loosens any burnt oil off the engine, this burnt parts can stay in the engine and float around and even block the pressure sensor.
